"My children, I will be with you only a little longer. …Simon Peter asked him, "Lord,

where are you going?"

Jesus replied, "Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later."

Peter asked, "Lord, why can't I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you."

Then Jesus answered, "Will you really lay down your life for me? I tell you the truth,

before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times!

Romans 5:5-8

God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous

man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates

his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
