Outline of ‘Jobstar’

• Content: The objective is to create a new job that does not exist right now fit for the circumstances that are presented in the game

• Target audience: high school/college students or older

• Standard number of players: 3-5 people/group

• Standard play time: approximately 45-60 minutes

• Put the following items on the board• Event Cards • Industry Cards

• Shuffle the Job Cards and distribute them to the players

The job of creating solutions for given problems using the power of art and design, which requires the ability to understand abstract notions and to use an artistic taste to put solutions into concrete form.

Gameplay: An event occurs

• Take one Event Card and one Industry Card and put them on the table

• Question: If the population will age and shrink in the near future, what kind of jobs will be needed in the Transportation & shipping industry?

Due to the decrease in the number of young workers and increase in number of the elderly, social welfare systems are in a dire situation, and the revitalization of society has become a major issue.

The industry that uses cars, trains, planes, ships, and other modes of transportation to carry people and goods.

• Choose one Job Card from your hand, and think of a job that would be useful in an aging and shrinking population• e.g. ___ Engineer, ___ Craftsman

• When you think of a job, write the name down on the card

• Put your card on the table face down, and wait until everyone has put their card down

• When everybody has played their card, decide on an order and have each player present their job’s name and explain it in an interesting way

• After everyone presents, vote to the player who had the most interesting job!

• The player with the most points at the end of the game will be the “Star Job Creator”!

Engineer Trainer/coach Companion ScientistDesigner/Artist

The job of designing and developing products and software according to the clients’ needs. Engineers should have the ability to understand clients’ needs and the technical and management skills necessary to develop solutions.

The job of creating clear and effective training guidelines for clients in a various areas such as sports, welfare, and business. Trainers should have expertise in sports physiology, psychology (especially the topic of motivation) and communication.

The job of creating solutions for given problems using the power of art and design, which requires the ability to understand abstract notions and to use an artistic taste to put solutions into concrete form.

The job of interacting with guests during occasions such as events, and talking about certain subjects in a clear manner. They need the professional expertise to provide technical explanations and explain how to operate machinery.

The job of creating new knowledge and technology through research using the scientific method. Scientists must have expertise in a particular field, logical thinking skills, the diligence to steadily conduct and interpret the results of experiments.
