Job Purpose The Stress Engineer will have the knowledge, expertise and capability to perform structural analysis by means of first principles hand calculations and Finite Element Method. Additionally a firm knowledge of programming languages and composite materials is required, as well as the ability to produce reports and presentations to a high standard for dissemination and certification. Key Responsibilities • Work with the Head of Advanced Simulation to develop, implement and test structural analysis solutions for CFMS customers • Structural analysis of aircraft (Airframes and interiors), defence articles, automotive components and R&D projects • Create and interrogate 2D and 3D designs using a variety of CAD software • Prepare handbook calculations and perform Finite Element Analysis Prepare reporting documentation for customers and certification authorities • Contributing to our multi-disciplinary simulations (e.g. CFD + FE + AI) using a variety of programming languages (e.g. Python, VBA, etc) • Carry out research into new and existing processes, devices, technologies, materials and techniques • Align engineering topics of interest to the strategic direction of the company and independently develop creative and innovative ideas • Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices/designs and future trends • Development of engineering tools, procedures and manuals • Support the development of R&D proposals and projects • Present technical project findings at conferences or in project meetings Key Relationships The Stress Engineer will work closely with key stakeholders, and CFMS Technical, Marketing and Senior Management teams.
