Duties and Responsibilities1 Organisational Risk Management1.1 Ensures the development, implementation and ongoing coordination of the Department

of Communities Risk Management Program Framework (RMF) to ensure compliance with ISO 31000:2009 Risk Management - Principles and Guidelines, Public Sector Commission Circulars, Treasury Instructions and other Statutory Instruments governing the Western Australia Public Sector.

1.2 Supports management in promoting agency wide awareness of the RMF by coordinating and delivering risk management training to all levels of management within the agency.

1.3 Coordinates and maintains the agency’s Risk Management systems and registers.

1.4 Contributes to the agency’s strategic management and business planning processes, ensuring the process for managing risks is integrated with strategic planning and management.

1.5 Ensures compliance with relevant legislative and government requirements, including agency policies, programs and procedures.

2 Liaison2.1 Contributes to the provision of a consultancy and advisory service to all levels of

management throughout the agency in relation to risk management.

2.2 Assists in establishing and maintaining networks at the local and national level.

2.3 Assists with representing the agency at external risk forums and meetings.

3 Reporting3.1 Identifies, reviews, analyses and monitors agency risk management issues and trends,

including compliance issues and prepares reports for management.

3.2 Prepares reports and provides advice to relevant governance committees, including the Audit and Risk Committee to support corporate decision-making processes.

3.3 Researches developments in, and contemporary practices, associated with risk management at a state, national and international level.

4 Other4.1 Understands and complies with information security policies and procedures to ensure

information holdings/systems are kept confidential and utilised accurately and reliably. 4.2 Undertakes other duties as required.

Essential Work-Related Requirements (Selection Criteria)1. Experience and knowledge of risk management principles and procedures across a

diverse organisation with demonstrated knowledge of government processes, procedures and protocols relating to risk.

2. Well-developed communication, interpersonal and presentation skills together with the ability to liaise and network effectively with others at all levels.

3. Well- developed conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills in the context of corporate systems and information management in the application and use for risk management.

4. Demonstrated, well-developed time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet concurrent deadlines

Desirable Work-Related Requirements (Selection Criteria)1. Knowledge of issues associated with risk within a large complex organisation.

2. Possession of/or progress towards a relevant tertiary qualification related to risk, security management and compliance.

Essential Eligibility Requirements / Special Appointment Requirements 1. Appointment is subject to a satisfactory National Police Clearance.

2. Available to attend offsite meetings outside of normal working hours if required.

3. The occupant of this position must have the ability to travel to and work in various Department Offices in the Perth Metropolitan Area in response to organisational requirements.

4. Possession of a current Western Australian 'C' or 'C-A' Class Driver’s Licence or equivalent, and the ability to travel in response to organisational needs. This requirement continues for the duration of employment in this position and from time to time production of the licence may be required upon request by the Department.

5. Able to travel to remote regional locations, including by light aircraft, and to stay overnight or for short periods.

6. Able to travel by air to remote regional locations and to stay overnight or for short periods.

7. Flexibility to undertake intrastate travel and to stay overnight or for short periods.
