Your Opportunity The primary function of the position is to provide high quality clinical care to patients of Kingaroy Hospital and South Burnett region. The position works within a rural generalist medical team with clinicians from other disciplines and visiting practitioners. Participate in an on-call roster as required by the Kingaroy Hospital. This position is responsible to the Medical Superintendent at Kingaroy Hospital. Your Role § Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Darling Downs Hospital and Health

Service values, as outlined above.

§ Delivery of high quality clinical care to inpatients, outpatients and emergency department presentations under the supervision of Senior Medical Officers at Kingaroy Hospital and the South Burnett.

§ Participate in Kingaroy Hospital and South Burnett clinical meetings, training and tutorials.

§ Be involved in presentation of clinical work at weekly teaching.

§ Document in a timely manner contemporaneous, accurate, legible patient records including clinical, administrative and statistical records.

§ Ensure cost effective utilization of health resources, as are able.

§ Arrange appropriate investigations and treatment of patients according to local guidelines.

§ Direct the process of discharge of patients including discharge planning from admission.

§ Liaise directly with the patient’s general practitioner regarding referrals and discharge.

§ Provide supervision on a daily basis for the activities of junior staff assigned to the Department.

§ Maintain a personal professional development program.

§ Provide medical coverage for other areas of the health service as directed.

§ Assist in quality assurance activities of the Kingaroy Hospital as required.

§ Ability to communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.

§ Demonstrated interest in ongoing education and self-directed learning.

§ Follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces (for all employees).

§ Implement and monitor the organisation’s quality standards, occupational health and safety policies, procedures and programs and provide clinical governance in the relevant work area (for clinical management).

Mandatory Qualifications/Professional registration/Other requirements Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/ manager if you are the preferred candidate for employment. § Possession of a qualification from a registered tertiary institution and Registration with the

Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with a current annual practicing certificate is essential.

§ This position is open to all suitable applicants, with an interest in rural practice an advantage. § Travel may be a requirement of the position. The possession of a licence to operate a class

It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (chicken pox), Pertussis (whooping cough), Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A (for roles that involve any of the following - work in remote Indigenous communities or with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander children; work in early childhood education and care; work as plumbers or in regular contact with untreated sewage; work caring for persons with developmental disabilities) Existing staff that are engaged prior to 1 July 2016 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirements that is with a different Queensland Health entity (i.e. one HHS to another HHS, Department to a HHS, or HHS to Department). Within the context of the responsibilities described above under ‘Your role’, the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following: § Demonstrated advanced level clinical and technical expertise with appropriate knowledge,

skills and ability to deliver quality care to rural patients. § Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to work with and lead other staff. § High level oral and written communication skills and the ability to work and liaise with other

health professionals. § Demonstrated commitment to principles of quality improvement, patient safety and clinical

governance. § Demonstrated commitment to education and research including a demonstrated personal

Additional information � Pre-employment screening, including criminal history and discipline history checks, may be
