JNV Kolhapur Alumni Association | Newsletter | Issue 01 | Feb, 2016 Quote From President: "Together we can & together we will strive for betterment of our alumnus, school friends and society” IN THIS ISSUE: 1. Alumni Meet, Pune 2. Medical Camp 3. Alumni Meet, Kolhapur 4. Website Inauguration 5. Prizes From JNVKAA 6. Adolescent Workshop 7. A Helping Hand 8. Placement Cell Formation 9. Career Counseling 10. Batch Representatives 11. Activities Planned In Future Behind the Screens!!! Every year we gathered in Navodaya for the yearly alumni meet. We used to re-live fondly the old school-days, thank teachers and school for their role in our lives, pledge/dream of giving something back to our alma mater in some or the other way.. Every time, every single time! And then, we used to forget!! Every single time!!! Few years back, some of us and teachers thought of forming an association of alumni students. But then again, we dragged our feet. Same story continued. But this year was different. Thanks to some alumni's and teachers' untiring efforts, we were able to give a formal structure to our feelings, our ideas and our goals in the form of JNV Kolhapur Alumni Association. A large number of alumni gathered in Pune to discuss and finalize the nitty gritties of association formation. All ideas and issues were discussed and debated upon in truly democratic way, ranging from what name/logo for the association to what aims the association should pursue. Senior-most batch led from the front under the guidance of Dengle Sir and Awari Madam. After Pune meeting, a meeting in our school followed to give final touches to the association structure. What do we want to do? Every alumnus had a say here and will have a say in future. Few said let's do something for the school, few others wanted to concentrate on students who've completed the JNV schooling and few wanted to do something for the society we live in, the ultimate aim of every true Navodian. Finally everyone agreed that we need to do all three!! These goals will feature in our future activities. Why the organization, roles and rules? There is an African saying "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to far, go together." And that's what we want to do. Go far and go forever. Unless we institutionalize our efforts now, we may fall short of our goals in future. An organization helps in better planning, efficient execution and wider reach of activities. Our association will provide a stage and mechanism to every willing alumnus to connect to school and alumni network, to work for the school and the society. A core committee comprising alumni as active members and teachers as advisers will give direction and oversee the activities. There will be dedicated teams for various fields of works such as Job Placement Assistance, Career Guidance, and Social Awareness etc. Everyone is welcome to join these teams as per their liking. Take a small step today. Join us in this journey. Following pages lists down the meeting details and the activities carried out by the association within a short span of time. For more information, please feel free to contact any of core members or your respective batch representatives. The details are listed at the end of this document.

Most of us are now connected through social media Facebook, WhatsApp groups or emails. However, still few are outside these mediums or rarely use them. There was a necessity to have our own system to get all of us connected. Having digital presence is very crucial in these times. Neeraj Dengle and Prathmesh Patil spent great efforts in building a website for the association. It, www.Jnvkalumni.com, was inaugurated on the occasion of Alumni Day. Association will regularly publish information about activities, special achievements, job postings, career guidance articles on this site besides our Facebook page. Association is also in process of building comprehensive database of our alumni network. Hence all are requested to spend some time to register and create your profile on our web site www.Jnvkalumni.com. All one needs is an email id and 5 minutes of time!!
Since last three years third batch (1996-2002) is giving prizes to meritorious students of 10th and 12th standard
classes. Next year onwards they will lead this activity, on behalf of JVNKAA, to honor maximum alumni and students
of our School.
UNICEF with the help of Rajmata Jijau Mother-Child Health & Nutrition Mission (Govt of Maharashtra) conducts WORKSHOP FOR ADOLESCENT STUDENTS in schools across Maharashtra. With help of Suresh Naik (Expert Member, Core Committee JNVKAA) we took the opportunity to organize one such workshop in our school for 11th class students. Workshop was spanned 3 full days as: Day 1 - Lifestyle of Adolescent Day 2- Introduction of reproduction system Day 3- Nutrition requirements of adolescents Dr Gopal Pandge, Shaku Akaa, Dr Aparna, Sharmila Mukherjee mam facilitated this workshop. Some words from Trainers “We were stunned by seeing students’ positive & active response on first day and we had to rework on our strategies. Truly overwhelmed by hospitality and management of school and JNVK Alumni Association” Some Words from Principal Sir “This is good workshop. Looking at students’ feedback, I think such workshops should be conducted in all JNVs and our alumni association should take some steps in this direction.” Students’ Feedback: “We loved the entire workshop, it was with full of activities and great learning.” Kiran Deshpande, Dr. Rahul, Dr. Tushar, Jitendra Rawan and Rahul Kamble spent tremendous efforts in planning and executing this workshop on behalf of the association.
