Jisc MediaHub

• Service for UK Higher Education and Further Education. • Released in 2011.• Jisc-licensed multimedia licensed, copyright-cleared for

educational use.• Includes rare archival material and extensive news film

collections rarely found on the open web. • Also enables searching across high quality external

multimedia collections.• Part of Jisc eCollections subscription service.• FREE for colleges (more information:

• Identified by Jisc MediaHub triangle.

• 40+ collections ranging from news film, to youth photography, classical music, feature length social commentary films, wartime propaganda, engineering lectures, design sketches, experimental ads, etc.

• Material includes:

• 76,000+ videos

• 57,000+ images

• 250+ audio

• All material is copyright-cleared for educationBrowse all collections:

External Collections

• Marked by grey square with red arrow

• Carefully selected collections - high quality content that is usually provided under appropriate license for education.

• Search allows you to find the best available materials both from Jisc eCollections and external collections

• Full view and download of these items is always via the external collection’s site.

Login for Colleges via UK Federation (Shibboleth), where available, or via College IP range.

Search, Filters, and Search Results

• Search brings back thumbnails for all results.• Hover over thumbnail for more information• Click on thumbnail for full record page, larger

image or video, and more information• Filters let you refine results by format, collection,

genre, subject, date, or change rankings.• Simple search box or advanced search options.

Double quotes (for exact phrase), and Google-like + and - operators supported.

Explore Jisc MediaHub

• Browse and explore materials by Collection, Place, Subject, etc.

• Find learning materials around Jisc MediaHub content.

• Browse most searched for or viewed items.

Record Page

• View and download full length video clips, listen to full sound clips, or access full size images.

• Find rights and credits information.

• Access information about the item - title, date, location, tags, thumbnails, etc.

• Find associated resources, e.g. shotlist, scripts (some news film).

• Mark, Save, Favourite or Comment on the item (UK Federation login required for some of these).

• Like, favourite or share the URL for the item via social media.
