This question was recently posed to me as our school was selected to participate in the WITN/Bob 93.3 How Cool is Your School Tour. My immediate reaction about what makes J.H. Rose a cool school is that we are not simply a school. We are a family, the Rampant Family. A family that strives for excellence and seeks the best for each of our members. We support each others’ endeavors… Last month, the Athletic Foundation held another successful Scales -Aldridge-Garner Golf tournament. In addition, the Student Govern- ment Association hosted the Fall Kick Off Conference of the NC Association of Student Councils. And most recently, the Rampant Theatre Company held their fall production of Don’t Dress for Dinner. We celebrate one another’s victories… For the second consecutive year J.H. Rose was recognized by the North Carolina Department of Instruction as a Green Ribbon School for our Positive Behavior and Intervention Supports initative. In the arts, a student participated in the 2016 Spoleto Study Abroad Program while another student was selected to participate in the NC Honors Chorus. We rally around one another during times of challenge… With the flooding impacts left by Hurricane Matthew, our community swiftly organized efforts to assist displaced families. We are much cooler than just a school...we’re Family! For your reflection: “To us, family means putting your arms around one another and being there.” —Barbara Bush #RiseUp

Rampants, So how cool is our school? This question was recently posed to me as our school was selected to participate in the WITN/Bob 93.3 How Cool is Your School Tour. We rally around one another during times of challenge…
With the flooding impacts left by Hurricane Matthew, our community swiftly organized efforts to assist displaced families. We are much cooler than just a school...we’re Family!

CONGRATULATIONS to Amity Kea, Rampant Spirit Award
winner for October!
Amity Kea was recently named Teacher of the Year at Rose in recognition of her
excellence in the classroom, as well as her tireless work in many areas to benefit the
school community.
Ms. Kea is loved by her students! She encourages them to make the most of their time at Rose and to get involved in clubs and organizations that they are passionate about. Ms. Kea is paying forward the inspiration she received from Mrs. Billie Lennon, who was her AP US History teacher when she was a student at Rose herself. "She made history come alive in the classroom and encouraged us to take advantage of community opportunities. I wanted to have the same impact on my students’ lives that she had on mine."
Ms. Kea is grateful to have such strong parent support and loves coming to work with fabulous and committed educators.
We are grateful to have Amity Kea as a member of the Rampant family!
