Carpe Diem Quote of the Month

At perhaps no other time of year do we feel the passage of

time more acutely than when the calendar page turns from

December 31 to January 1. (Okay . . . our own birthdays

might be the one exception.) And for many of us, it’s a time

of taking stock: is there a relationship that needs mending,

a habit that needs breaking or a trip that needs taking? This

month’s quote is a gentle reminder that time waits for no

one; it marches on whether we have accomplished what

we’ve intended to or not. How will you make the most of

your time in 2015?

“Life is like a taxi. The meter keeps running whether

you are getting somewhere or merely standing still.”

—Unknown

life or coping with a loss

The Institute for Community Research and Training at

The College of Saint Rose wants to thank the nearly 300

residents who completed the NNORC Impact Survey

and/or the interview. Your willingness to help provided

valuable information that will help us build a stronger

NNORC. Our goal is to make the Albany NNORC the go-to

resource for adults over the age of 60 in the neighbor-

hood. Thanks for helping us reach our goal!

NNORC Holiday Cheer

The holiday spirit spread

throughout the NNORC on

December 8 as many NNORC

neighbors and friends came to-

gether to welcome the holiday

season. Good friends, good food,

good music all contributed to a

lovely afternoon at B’Nai Sholom

Reform Congregation.

Very talented NNORC bakers

brought samples of their delicious

cookies and others brought tasty

treats. Wonderful music, provided

by “38 Strings and a Squeeze

Box,” added to the fun. We had a

great time with a sing-along, and

some brave souls showed off their

dance skills in an impromptu

performance lead by one of the

musicians, and many folks went

home with raffle prizes. What a

wonderful way to end 2014

and get ready for a

fabulous 2015 in the

NNORC.

New January Date for NNORC Council

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day MLK Day is Monday, January 19, 2015. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?'" Each year, Americans across the country answer that question by coming together on the King Holiday to serve their neighbors and communities.
