Rain, Umbrellas, and Fashion: How teens greet rainy days nowadays

When the cascades of raindrops start falling from the ominous, dark clouds, the melancholy that the rain brings immediately dampens our mood of the day. Only a cup of hot tea with a blanket on the sofa can lighten us up a little bit. But when you step outside, you can tell that was the story of the past. If rainy days had always been an excuse to stay indoor, nowadays, they are chances for teenage girls to get into her rain attires and enjoy the rain in fashion. Unique umbrellas, rain coats, boots, trench coats, and gloves are popular among teenag-ers as they now choose to celebrate the rain with the fashionable look rather than to avoid it.

This trend has recently reemerged from incorporating cool designs with high quality rubber on rain boots like leopard patterns with a variety of vibrant colors from brands like Hunter, Burb-erry, UGG, Charlotte Russe etc. Dierent types of umbrellas are another huge attraction to teens. Ranging from a simple one-colored umbrella to a part-transparent superhero umbrella, teens are oered many options in choosing what kind of style they want so that they can add some energy and vitality to the day.Sally Lee, a 15 year old high school student at an interna-

tional school in Korea said “These unique rain products made me to welcome the rain. With the improved quality, it’s much easier to stay dry outdoor even in the rain and look

fashionable at the same time.” She says most of her friends own at least a pair of Hunter rainboots. “But while it is impor-tant that one stay fashionable with all those, these days, we often look for a unique style. I recently bought Lookin-thru from Drizzlee because it‘s an umbrella that really stands out from other very dull ones.”

Popular brands like Max Mara, Calvin Klein, DKNY, and Michael Kors have high demands for trench coats to match the r a i n b o o t s , raincoats, and umbrellas they own. Outdoor wear brand like North Face is also developing teens’

rain jackets with improved waterproof quality and insula-tion.
