Jetstar A320 – 180 passengers,
flight from Coollum (Sunshine Coast) Queensland to Sydney.
Winglets – wing shields- To reduce vortex turbulence at end of wing.
Wing with closed flaps and ailerons
Flaps move to interrupt streamline over wing, causing turbulence
Aileron expands wing area, flap adjusts streamline and turbulence
Plane is lowering in sky, Ailerons ready to drop and expand wing area
Aggressive movement of flaps and aileron
Aileron increases wing area when plane thrust is reduced. This maintains lift force.
Coming into land. Aileron drops to increase drag, to help slow plane before touchdown.
Touchdown! Flaps up, ailerons down, maximum turbulence and drag to assist braking of aircraft.
