Jesus and BaptismScripturePrint off, cut out and laminate the flannel board figures. Tell thestory of Jesus getting baptized.

Print off the picture of Jesus getting baptized and the puzzle. Glue thepuzzle to the opposite side of the picture of Jesus, then cut out thepieces. Laminate. Have your child choose the individual pieces and readwhat the puzzle says. Talk about its meaning and then place it infront of you to try and fit the picture of Jesus getting baptizedtogether.

Finally, print of the 7 letters of the word baptism, cut them out andlaminate them. Have your child pick them out of your hand and tellyou about each one. When you have discussed a letter then you cantape them up to your childs bed or bedroom to remind him for theweek about baptism.

Hubbard Tank

1. Marie loved to hear the stories of Jesus. Sheespecially liked to hear about Jesus being baptizedby John the Baptist. Marie wanted to followJesus. She wanted to be baptized by immersion. Herparents taught her that she could be baptized whenshe was eight years old.

2. But Marie got a sickness called polio. The poliomade her very sick. It made her so she could notwalk. Marie was too sick to stay home.

3. The doctors sent her to the hospital. Theyhoped they could help her get well in the hospital.

4. To help Marie's legs, the doctors put her in aspecial tank filled with warm, fast-moving water.The water made her legs feel better.

5. The doctors said Marie would have to stay inthe hospital for a long time. Marie tried to behappy in the hospital. It made her happy to thinkabout being baptized. Soon she would be eight yearsold. She wanted to be baptized just as Jesus wasbaptized. When Marie turned eight, she asked herfather to take her out of the hospital so that shecould be baptized. But the doctors told her father

that she could not leave the hospital. She was stilltoo sick.

6. Marie was very sad. She wanted to be baptized.She asked Heavenly Father to help her find a wayto bebaptized.

7. One day, while Marie was in the special tank, shegot an idea. When Marie's father and mothercame to visit her that day, Marie told them heridea. She could be baptized in the hospital. She couldbe baptized in the special tank.

8. Marie was baptized like Jesus. She was baptizedby immersion.

ActivityYou can invite your childs cousins over for the devotional and explainduring the scripture how John the Baptist was Jesus cousin.

You can take the devotional the your ward building and give thedevotional in front of the font (if you can schedule it or get keys!)

Finally, go to the story and get a white towel. Print off the handout below (there is one for a girl and one for a boy) and wrap thehand out and towel together in a present. Maybe place both in a boxso they have something to store the towel in till they get baptized.

Give it to your child to open. Explain how his sins will be wiped awayand he will be as white and clean for sin as the white towel. Tell himto keep the towel till his baptism day and he can use it to wipe offthem.
