The JCA Athletic Creed

At the Jericho Christian Academy (JCA), we strongly believe and represent Christ 3-fold…Spirit, Soul, and Body. Our first priority is to demonstrate and instruct our students how to be Christ-like and to serve Christ.

JCA has recognized that extra-curriculum activities provide an additional avenue by which students can recognize and develop their God-given gifts/talents outside the classroom environment. We have come to realize that through athletics we can build our students 3-fold, mentally, physically, and spiritual by using the principles of Jesus Christ. It is our desire to see that each student athlete glorify God by giving 100% to developing their talents; becoming team-players; giving to others; and striding to become the best they can be in their chosen sport.

To uphold the JCA Athletic Creed which will manifest a program that builds excellence in character; enhances physical and emotional endurance; and develops integrity in competition so that only our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is glorified.

Purpose It is the goal of Jericho Christian Academy Athletic Department (JCAAD) to develop athletes who glorify God by performing as Christ would if He was a member of a sports team.

Our goal is to glorify God by giving 100% and to become the best possible team player.

Combined they bring over 30 years of basketball experience to the court. Both have played NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball and are Maryland Certified Basketball Referees. They have been blessed to learn the game of basketball as a player; an official; and coach. It is through this experience, they believe they can give JCA Girl’s Basketball Team a strong foundation based on solid fundamentals, the skills needed to succeed as a team, and the courage to persevere in all circumstances.

Coaches’ Commitment to the Parents Keep an open dialogue with

parents of the athletes to air concerns; chart progress; and follow-up with positive opportunities presented by outside influences…(scouts, interested colleges and others interest that will benefit the student future achievements).

Jericho Christian Academy Athletic DepartmentPresents the

JCAA Mentorship ProgramA program designed to implement structure and balance between each students participation in the

Athletic Programs and their Academic Careers. It is the core of the Foundation and Success of our athletic program.

Student athletes will abide by the basketball program’s “creed of conduct” that is approved by the academy.

Each student athlete will be assigned to a mentor team that will consist of a teacher, administrator, and student “peer leader”.

Student athlete will meet with mentor group on a weekly basis during the basketball season to ensure that the student is on track with assignments and athletic goals.

Mentor program will publish a SAT prep course schedule along with SAT test dates.

This is an opportunity for the public as well as the Jericho community and members to sow seed into the vision of the athletic department.

It is a way to allow business to market their products and services to our network of parents; teachers; students; and attendees of our games.

Fundraising Goals and Objectives To form a committee made up of volunteer

parents, members of the coaching staff and students to reach out to the community in efforts to solicit contributions for the athletic department.

Committee will meet to develop a strategic plan and implement ethical practices in order to achieve goals.

Will aim to develop a website that is specifically designed to highlight students’ athletic accomplishments as well as create a platform for our sponsors to advertise their company logos and websites.
