About The Exposition
The Da Vinci exposition had many extremely exciting and interesting machines and paintings. From boat models, to flying machines. Artistic
creations and interactive gadgets. Huge mirrors and war machines. There was a very wide range of creations at the gallery.
In the Mil Lel Up Class, we had to write notes about what machines use and reduce friction, and what machines use and reduce gravity.
I am pretty sure the whole class loved the Exposition through and through. Well, I really loved it anyway. ☺
The Mona Lisa is a very famous painting, that Leonardo Da Vinci painted himself. The Mona Lisa is famous because, no one really knows exactly what she is thinking. Is she happy
that she is standing in that pose, waiting for years for Leonardo to finish? No one really knows. Is she happy or
sad? You can’t tell. At the Exposition, there are two paintings of the Mona Lisa,
obviously not the real ones, but one of the paintings is what it looks like now, and one is what people thought it would’ve
looked like when it was painted.
My Favourite Machine
My favourite machine at the Exposition was the Automa O Robot, the Robot Knight. This Robot was Leonardo’s
crowning glory when it comes to automation, and so he designed the Robot based upon the principles of human
movement, using ropes and pulleys to act as muscles and tendons. This Robot uses Friction, Push & Pull, and Gravity.
A Machine that uses Friction
The Machine I found that uses Friction, was Trivella, the Vertical Drill.
This drill is designed to move up and down by means of one or two men.
The drill creates a funnel shaped space in the surface.
A Machine that Reduces Friction
The machine I found that reduces friction was, Cuscinetto A Sfere, the Ball Bearings.
The Ball Bearing’s spindles rotate on their own axes preventing sideways movements by the balls. The ball and spindle reduces friction, allowing the top platform to turn
easily even when carrying a heavy load.
A Machine that Uses Gravity
The Machine I found that uses gravity was the Automatic Hooks with Counterweights.
These are used for raising and lowering heavy loads. The one I saw at the Exposition are designed to unhook the weight when it reaches the ground.
