Dear ReaderFor some reason New Year’s Eve is an epoch-making event for many of us. A new, blank year seems to inspire us to refl ect on the past year and dream of changes in the year to come. That’s how we feel here at the editorial offi ce. One of our new initiates is the column that starts with this January edition. We continuously receive input from our dear readers about all kinds of exciting topics, and we often want to share this input with all of you. Another one of our new ideas is something that we actually implemented a few months ago; our articles “All about the style”. Each month we feature an article about something that defi nes this style. We show you how to use that item in your interior design and tell you the story behind it. This month it’s something as classic as French church candlesticks. We also show you how to furnish your home within different budgets by making two arrangements: one with Nordic fl ea market fi nds and one with French antiques. In 2015, we plan to let you take a peek behind the scenes here at the editorial offi ce, starting with pictures of us, the staff members, and a description of our everyday work. In addition, we begin the new year with the slightly different theme of dressing rooms that are fi nding favor in many homes these days. Lett ie and her husband had a lways wanted to buy an o ld far m. At one point , the i r dream was c lose to coming t r ue so they s tar ted buy ing constr uct ion mater ia l s for the renovat ion. At the las t moment , however, the far m purchase was ca l led off and the couple dec ided to s tay in the i r cur rent home and invest the i r energ y, work and a l ready purchased cons t r uc t ion mater i a l s in tur n ing the i r cur rent house into the i r shared dream home. With Let t ie ’s fantas t ic tas te and her husband’s creat ive sk i l l s they ’ve ach ieved an amaz ing resu l t . They l ive in th i s house wi th the i r youngest son. The two oldest ch i ldren have a l ready f lown the nes t and the coup le has two wonderfu l g randchi ldren.

Let t ie ’s pass ion for ant ique and beaut i fu l f lea market f inds s tar ted ten years ago when she came across a pa i r of ant ique, b lack ch i ldren’s shoes. At that t ime, the i r house was s t i l l furn ished wi th new th ings, main ly f rom the l i festy le shop where Lett ie worked. S lowly but sure ly, the furnishings were replaced with old furniture and i tems from Lett ie ’s numerous f lea market v is i t s, creat ing the personal and unique home that she has now.

In the l iv ing room, Let t ie uses cupboards and furni ture with drawers to exhibi t her absolute ly fantast ic col lect ion of old text i les. She has ever ything from exquis i te bobbin l aces, l aces and other r ibbons to the most beaut i fu l bedding , tab lec loths wi th matching l inen napkins and other unique text i les. She uses the text i les throughout the home as cur ta ins, on furni ture and for other decorat ion purposes, and p i les of text i les are scat tered throughout the house just for the sake of decorat ion and ever yday joy.

Her newest pass ion i s o ld dressmaker ' s dummies and mannequins, v intage c lothes, ba l le t costumes, chi ldren’s c lo thes and shoes, and l a s t bu t no t l ea s t V ic tor i an shoes and boots. even a mar ve lous, rare wire dummy, and they ’ve a l l been dressed in the most beaut iful v intage c lothes from Lett ie ’s col lect ion. The combinat ion of Victor ian shoes and boots, dressmaker ' s dummies, v intage c lothes and a col lect ion of g loves, umbre l las, hats and su i tcases f rom the 19th centur y creates a fantast ic a tmosphere that makes you fee l par t of “The Emperor ’s New Clothes” . This house i s governed by a woman who knows no l imi ts, and that ’s what makes i t such a g reat p lace to explore. There ’s no doubt that Let t ie i s a t r ue col lector.

Tips:You can exhib i t your co l lec t ions in many ways . Chi ldren’s shoes and laces look wonderful together in the nice wedding domes on the l iv ing room table.
