CLEAN WATER PROGRAM

Before the January 2010 devastating earthquake, about 75% of the population of Petit Goave did not

have access to clean drinking water. This has result-ed in contaminated water carrying diseases such as

chronic diarrhea, typhoid and others.

Page 22: J'DARC Presentation

HELP US BUILD

To alleviate this situation, one of the goals of the Foundation is to build clean water wells in rural

areas of Petit Goave.

+ For instance, one water system was built in Chabanne in 2006.

+ It supported over 900 families from many rural communities with water for

drinking, cooking, cleaning, and irrigation.

+ It failed during the earthquake and the flow became less than 1 gal/hour.

HELP US PROVIDE

We contracted a driller for the construction of three deep water wells to provide clean subterranean drinking water in strategic areas of Petit-Goave

Property for the three well sites was donated by lo-cal Petit-Goave residents. The overall population of Petit-Goave, including the Mayor’s office, are highly

grateful for our efforts.

FOOD DISTRIBUTION & MEDICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Our Food Distribution and Medical Assistance Pro-gram has made some strides in keeping the poorest of the poor alive. Since the devastating earthquake, Ste. Jeanne D’Arc Haiti Foundation has seen a huge increase in demand for basic services. We need help in expanding the program to care for the most vul-nerable. Your generosity will enable us to continue

our works of care and Hope!

KEEPING IT LOCAL

The second well is located near the main road ap-proximately two miles west of the primary site. It

provides added capacity and requires less travel for people in the area and neighboring towns. The third well is located at the shelter for the poor in the cen-

ter of Petit-Goave.

+ These wells have made a vital difference to the health of Haitians living in Petit-Goave and neighboring towns.

HELP US WITH THE FUTURE

AGRICULTURE PROGRAM+ Helping People Help Themselves

The goal of this program is to continue addressing hunger by assisting our target beneficiaries to become self-sufficient. This vulnerable group is po-

tentially productive if strategically facilitated. The project seeks to help sup-port them to carry out their normal economic occupations, particularly in

the areas of farming and livestock keeping. The aim of this intervention is to enable these economically vulnerable families to produce enough food for home consumption and to have excess for sale to provide for the education

of their children.
