Philippians 4:6

Proper preparation prevents poor ministry….
So how do we as Ministers of Music, Praise & Worship leaders, choir members, musicians, etc. prepare for worship?

• Theme – Know the theme of the service, church, year, sermon topic, etc, which is essential to proper song selection.
• Rehearsal – should occur on a regular basis
• Communication -- With God (Proverbs 16:3) With the Pastor (Proverbs 15:22)
• Focus – Worship should never be based solely on emotion
• Excellence – Pursue excellence in worship by leading with your whole heart. (Colossians 3:23,24)
Things to Consider when Preparing for Worship
Proverbs 16:3
“Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”
Proverbs 15:22
“Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.”
Colossians 3:23, 24
“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.”

• Know the importance of the part you play as a singer/psalmist.
• In other words, come to rehearsal prepared with the following….

• Be punctual for rehearsal • Bring tape recorders to
rehearsal• Take notes during rehearsal• Have the proper attitude by
remaining teachable• Study your music/parts/lyrics
during personal time • Read and meditate on any
related scriptures prior to rehearsal
• Be yielded to the Spirit of the God and the direction of the Pastor

In order to realize the true power of worship, UNITY is essential(Psalm 133).
• Unity between the Worship Leader and Pastor
• Unity between the praise team, choir and minister of music

Worship:• Is a time when we pray
deeply, sincerely, showing love and fear to God
• Causes us to reflect on the majesty and goodness of God, contrasted to our own unworthiness

like Christ• Causes us to humble
ourselves before God
