EGG OSMOSIS EXPERIMENT
Purpose• Place eggs in vinegar. To remove the shells
• Measure weight of egg using balance
• Measure size of egg using measuring tape
• Place egg in water, place other egg in corn syrup
• Weigh and measure the eggs again
• I think it may get bigger, corn syrup may go in egg• I think it stay the same size• I don’t think it look different
HypothesisEgg in Corn Syrup
HypothesisEgg in Water
• I think it weigh more because might let water in• I think get bigger• I don’t think it look different• I don’t think it will look different
MaterialsMaterials that were used: eggs, beakers, balance, string, measuring tape, vinegar, corn syrup, water
Observation
Corn Syrup
BeforeW-71.5 g
S 16 cm
AfterW- 50.6 g
S 14.5 cm
Water W-71.4g
S 16 cm
W-87.5 g
S 18.5
ObservationEgg in Vinegar• Placed in vinegar bubbly • Taken out squishy, bouncy• Beaker foamy after 24hEgg in Water• Egg fatter after 24hEgg in Corn Syrup• Egg dented, deflated after 24h
ConclusionWater:• Egg got larger• Lower concentration, water• Moved higher concentration (water)
to lower concentration (egg)Corn Syrup• Egg got smaller• Higher concentration, egg• Moved higher concentration (egg) to
lower concentration (corn syrup)
Conclusion
Conclusion HypothesisWater• Weight: correct weighed
more• Size: correct not look
different• Color: correct color not
different
Corn Syrup • Weight: incorrect
weighed less• Size: incorrect looked
different• Color: incorrect color
