B E E R M E N U PH I L O S O P Y

For us here at Post 390, sharing is an integral part of hospitality. We love to share our favorite stories, our favorite foods, and our favorite beers and breweries. What lies ahead is a collection of those stories, represented through the world of beer.

These beers and breweries hold significant meaning for us, either in personal experiences, or in how they’ve changed the landscape of the brewing world.

Some are approachable easy to enjoy lawnmower beers, others are meant to be contemplated and pondered. Throughout this list can be found beautiful gems,

that, like good wine, can be aged under the right conditions to enhance and change their flavors in interesting and delicious ways. Some of the world's finest

beers develop and improve with age, showing richer complexity in two, five or even fifteen years. Beer, a gift from the gods, one that brings together vegetation in the form of malted barley - the heart and soul of beer - and hops - the wicked

and pernicious weed - in a drink that has been enjoyed for 8,000 years. Consider this a “friendly” introduction to man’s oldest biotechnology.

“God knows, we used to think that Egypt produced grain for bread; but men’s vices are wonderfully resourceful, and a way has been

found to make even water intoxicating.”

- Pliny the Elder
