JABULANI AFRICA MINSTRIES
January-March OverviewSo far, this year has been incredible!
In
January, we were packed with some awesome camps such as Melkbos,
Parl Gim, Stellenberg grade 8 camp, Eversdal camp, and more. Once
the team arrived in February, we have been so busy with kingdom
work, but has been truly amazing.
In February the team received trainings in leading camps,
pointman leadership, prayer, deliverance, communication, finances,
and cooking. Right off the bat, the team was thrown in the deep
end, receiving intense training while immediately leading camps and
hosting teams.
At the end of February, we hosted a team from Christ Church
Episcopal School in Greenville, South Carolina. The group of high
school students served with us at Little Lambs cresh, Imizamo Yethu
(IY) and in the Hout Bay community. They were an incredible
blessing to us and it was amazing to watch them grow during their
stay with us.
For the month of March, weve finally settled into a nice weekly
routine full of trainings, bible studies, outreaches, and
fellowship. For this year our outreach spots are with Stellenburg
youth on Tuesday nights, and partnerships with
like minded organizations to serve in IY on Wednesdays and
Thursdays. In the other parts of the week, we are busy training our
team, going through Bible Doctrine, reading through books that
teach on what a healthy church looks like, what a man/woman of God
looks like, and what Godly leadership looks like.
Its been amazing to see the staff grow and adjust in the
beginning of the new year. Nico Prinsloo has joined us as full time
staff and we are greatly blessed by him. Tessa has moved off the
mountain and Lisa and Thinus have moved on. Git and Miggie have had
a beautiful baby girl named Khanya, and its just been amazing to
watch God grow us and accommodate us in all the changes.
The JAM team are already a group of amazing leaders who add so
much value to the ministry. We are so excited to watch them grow
even more this year.
Thank you so much for your continued support. We are so excited
for this new year and that you will be walking this journey with
us!

Weekly Outreaches
When I think of the Gap/Vybe kids, I think of little brothers
and sisters whom I love dearly.
For 8 years now, Valley Church in Hout bay has been investing in
these kids; showing them love in accepting them just they way they
are, making time for them which they dont get at home.
I instantly fell in love with these kids. Being with them is
like being with family. They make me laugh (gosh, theyre so funny!)
and sometimes they make me mad but nothing changes the way I see
them.
These kids come from a community where they are exposed to many
things such as violence, drug and alcohol abuse. A community where
most people have given up on life. Theres not much motivation for
them to move forward and chase their dreams. Many people would
probably give up through circumstances like this but no, not these
kids! They chose to sit at the feet of Jesus getting their hope and
motivation from Him. I think that is super cool! I sometimes feel
like they have a deeper understanding of what it means to seek God
than most mature Christians.
They are full of love and will give it to anybody whose open to
receiving it.
The day we set out for street ministry, ministry was the last
thing I wanted to do. It had been a very long, stressful day that

the worst homesickness Ive felt so far this year. I didnt feel
ready to minister and as I sat in the back of the Quantum I began
to cry out to God.
God, I cant do this. I cant talk to people on the street, I cant
even stop crying. Help me. Fill me with You because Im too weak on
my own. God, I need You to show up.
And He didHe always does. He gave me the space to release the
emotions I was trying so hard to push down, the calmness to ready
myself for ministry, and the strength to be used by Him.
So we set off in downtown Cape Town. God directed us to some
great people and we had the privilege of getting to sit down with
them and listen to their stories. Thats basically all we
didlistened and prayed. The act of listening seems so simple,
almost non-consequential, but it was our desire to listen that made
the most impact in these peoples lives.
On an even lesser scale was the simple fact that we didnt treat
them as outcasts. They told us how many people not only pass them
by but go completely out of their way so as to avoid even the
slightest of contact. They told us how, as the cross the street,
they hear the clicks of car doors. Just because were homeless does
not mean we are criminals, Husaine expressed. They openly shared
that these simple acts hurt them deeplydehumanized them. And they
werent perfect either, by no means. They shared of past struggles
and time spent in prison. I was overcome by their honesty with
complete strangers.
They never asked us for anything (although they were in great
need) and they even cared enough to ask us about ourselveswhere we
were from and (for us Americans) how we were liking South Africa. I
was so taken off guard that I could barely come up with an
answer.
As our time to leave was approaching we asked them to tell us
how we could pray for them. They didnt ask for food, or for a
house, or for money. They simply and humbly asked for protection on
the streets and opportunities for employment.
Though this group of people God reminded me that all humans
deserve respectdeserve common decencyand that we are called to love
every single one of them because He loves them.

Our first camp as JAM students and camp leaders was for the
Mitchel Plain Emmanuel Camp.
It was awesome being a part of a camp with those young people
that have passion for serving Christ. The most wonderful thing
about this camp was listening to how crazy involved they are with
Jesus.
Over the Emmanuel Camp, I learned to listen and hear whats on
other peoples hearts. It was challenging because I always like to
talk a lot and it was hard to not say anything but let them do all
the talking. But it felt like God had answered my prayer to talk
less and become a listener.
God used me in different ways. One was by sharing the Gospel
with the young followers of Christ through the good story of the
cross that didnt burn ten years ago.
There was a fire ten years ago on the mountain that burned down
everything but only the cross was still standing.
That was where I saw them apply the JAM vision that they had
been learning through the camp and it deepened their hearts for
Jesus.
When February met its end, JAM was joined by a group from South
Carolina. They were from Christ Church Episcopal School in
Greenville.
I did not know what to expect. South Carolina and South Africa
are worlds, cultures and races apart. At first I did not feel that
there would be new relationships forming. A month has passed and
the JAM team still misses them.
With the American team being from a first world country and
caring for and loving people that are a slave to poverty. I have
learned that I am blessed. More importantly I have learned that God
uses all people, qualified or unqualified, for His plan. God used
the American team to reach out to the children in the township,
showing His love; but God also used the children in the township to
show His side of humility.
God used me to show them His true personality: Love and
humility. Bu not placing myself on a pedistle, because I am part of
JAM but rather getting to know the team personally.
The simplicity of Jesus without poisoning it with religion.
I really saw, felt and experience that the whole South Carolina
team had a change of heart feeling responsible for spreading and
sharing Gods love. Some of them taking the bold step in wanting to
be legit disciples in

their hometown. That is where the vision of JAM bloomed in the
South Carolina team.
While the South Carolina team was here, we hosted a camp on the
27 Feb-29 Feb for a group of kids who belong to a youth group
in
Imizamo Yethu (IY) Township. It was so awesome to see how the
team
from South Carolina and the IY kids started interacting from the
first minute. It was evident to me that God was already present in
the way the two teams were gelling together. Through that, I
learned that we are all connected through the Holy Spirit which
means that no matter where you are from, the Holy Spirit will
connect you to those of the same faith.
Knowing how much the two teams looked up to us as JAM, I looked
to God for wisdom and strength more than ever. I really felt He
used me during the tabernacle where I prayed for the group I had
(both South Carolina and IY kids). The Tabernacle really changed
them. I saw how God encountered them. How He met them where they
were at. Two boys in my group came out crying and I knew the Holy
Spirit moved them.
God used us as JAM to lay on the hearts of every kid the vision
of JAM which is training and discipling young people to go back
into their communities and make a difference.
I do believe that we made an impact on these kids and I also
believe they are making a difference in their communities and
homes.
Please keep the IY kids and South Carolina team in your
prayers.
