Prayer of Confession
Merciful God, in baptism you grafted us into the body of Christ,
promising us forgiveness of sin and newness of life. But we fail to live
as forgiven people. We keep destructive habits and hold grudges. We
allow our past to hold us hostage and are reluctant to welcome new-
ness. In your loving-kindness, have mercy on us and free us from sin.
Remind us of our baptism so that we may live as your people, claimed
in the water of promise. Hear now our silent prayers…. Amen.
Responsive Assurance of Forgiveness (based on Rom. 8:34, 2 Cor. 5:17)
Leader: Who is in a position to condemn? Only Christ,
People: and Christ died for us, Christ rose for us, Christ reigns in
power for us, Christ prays for us.
Leader: Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation. The old life has gone; a
new life has begun.
All: In Jesus Christ God has overcome the power of sin to hold
us captive. In the knowledge of God’s mighty love, let us be
at peace. Thanks be to God!
Song of Response #70 (vs. 1, 4) “Christ, When for Us You Were Baptized”
Passing of the Peace
Leader: The peace of the Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
Response: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy
Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world
without end. Amen, Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom
come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day
our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is
the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

GPC of Springfield Board of Directors Update
The December called meeting of the GPC Board of Directors for Saturday, No-vember 19, was cancelled due to weather. The Board did meet in a conference call to discuss and approve their recommendation for the property portion of the budget for the coming year. A quorum was present; Pastor Lisa Kenkeremath also participated. The Board also met on Wednesday, December 21, at 5:30 p.m., in the Library. A quorum was present; Pastor Lisa Kenkeremath and Clerk of Session Greta Tosi-Miller also attended.
Greta Tosi-Miller noted the new pastor, Dr. Benton J. Trawick, had found a home in the area. The Church has agreed to assist with a loan. The Board will need to spruce up the pastor’s office with paint and some new ceiling tiles.
The preschool staff has requested the removal of the window air conditioning units before school starts in the new year. There was also discussion on security upgrades for the windows.
A new garbage collection contract has been negotiated that will include recycla-ble trash. There will be additional trash cans installed in the church for recycla-ble waste such as paper, aluminum cans, and plastic bottles. A new contract for natural gas supply was also approved. It will provide a lower rate for two years, starting in August 2017 when the current contract expires.
The problem of storage and accumulation of unused material was discussed. A clean out day is planned. Unclaimed items will be donated or removed. If necessary, a new plan for storage will be developed.
The Board is also considering the replacement of some of the doors to the church. Some need repair, and there is a need for a handicap-accessible en-trance to the Church. Bids are being taken.
How can you email the Board of Directors? An email account has been estab-lished, [email protected]. You can send suggestions, recommendations, or ideas to the account and someone from the Board will get back to you.
The next meeting of the Board will be January 21, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. in the Library. All are welcomed to attend.
The flowers in the sanctuary were
given by Coleen Austin
for the enjoyment of all
in the New Year.
