Target Code
Dell EMC has established target revisions for each product to ensure stable and reliable environments.
Avamar target code helps identify the most stable builds of the Avamar product, and Dell EMC encourages customers to
install or upgrade to these versions to ensure a stable and reliable environment. If a customer requires features that are
provided by a new version, the customer should install or upgrade to that version. The Dell EMC Technical Advisories
(DTAs) section provides more information about applicable target code hotfixes.
NEW* Avamar 19.1.0* declared Target Code
You can find a full list of Dell EMC product target codes at: https://support.emc.com/docu39695_Target-Revisions-and-
Adoption-Rates.pdf
For information on how upgrades are performed, please refer to the following Knowledge Base (KB) articles:
• Avamar Upgrade Pre-requisites: KB 303934
• Avamar Upgrade FAQ: KB 333046
• Avamar Upgrade Overview: KB 467510
Please review the Avamar Online Compatibility Guide (7.5.1 and below) or E-Lab Navigator (18.1 and above) for
compatibility and interoperability details prior to upgrades.
Many enterprise customers interested in running target code have requested recommendations for code levels across
their entire data protection infrastructure that Dell EMC has validated and is recommending as a collection. In response
to customer feedback, we are now providing recommendations for a Target Stack. Although multiple versions of various
products have been thoroughly tested and interoperate, and the Data Protection Support Matrix continues to document
supported combinations, the versions listed in the Target Stack have undergone additional testing as a collection.
The Data Protection Target Stack listed in the table below, is validated together as an end-to-end solution in an
accelerated and extremely stressful environment. The versions in the Target Stack, in most cases, are Target Codes with
proven field performance. Dell EMC recommends Data Protection customers to consider adopting the versions listed in
the Target Stack table for predictable customer experience, during the initial deployment of Data Protection products or
upgrades for the products in the data center.
This table will be updated quarterly to provide the most current product versions for Data Protection Target Stack.
