Supplementary Newsletter – January 2019 MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Special Presentations: The museum’s Winter / Spring 2019 public programming series has just been finalized. Each presentation will take place at the museum’s C.M. Glascock Building (222 Jasper Street) starting at 7:00pm. Admission is by donation. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome! January 24 th : 50 Photos from 50 Years of Walks in Waterton: A narrated slideshow by David & Margaret Larson documenting half a century of images and visits to Waterton Lakes National Park. February 28 th : Maple Creek Heritage District – Virtual Tour: If you have ever wondered about the stories behind the buildings that make up the Maple Creek Heritage District, join us for a virtual tour of our community’s remarkably intact early 20 th century streetscape. Using the museum’s extensive period photograph collection, this narrated slideshow will explore the history and architecture of rural Saskatchewan’s first formally recognized Heritage District. March 28 th : A Tour of Uganda: A narrated slide show by Dick Kennedy of his 2016 visit to Uganda. Living Heritage Art Workshops: Each month the museum will be offering our “Living Heritage” art workshops in collaboration with The Art House and with funding support from the Saskatchewan Arts Board in cooperation with SaskCulture. The next workshop will be held at the museum’s C.M. Glascock Building on Jan. 15 th , 2019 between 10:00am and 3:00pm. This session will focus on the arrival of the NWMP in the Cypress and water colour painting. Watch www.facebook.com/OldtimersMuseum for updates on other workshops. Garage Sale @ The Garage!: Spring Cleaning? Consider donating your unwanted quality household items to “Garage Sale @ The Garage!” Please contact the museum at 1-306-662-2474 to arrange to drop-off items at the museum’s C.M. Glascock Building before May 15 th , 2019. Unfortunately, the museum does not have the ability to coordinate pick-ups. The sale will run May 17 th & 18 th , 2019. All proceeds go to the Log Museum project. Thank you for your continued support of this fund-raiser! Log Museum Restoration Travel Lottery - Update: The final (September 2018 - Victoria) winner of the 2017 – 2018 Travel Lottery was Jamie-Lee Schmitt. Although following this draw the museum took a one-year break from the Travel Lottery, there was almost unanimous support expressed by the attendees of museum’s 92 nd Round-Up on Oct. 6 th , 2018 for the Travel Lottery to be continued as a fund-raiser for the museum. Therefore, watch for details on the return of the Travel Lottery later this year. Membership Renewals: Unless you are a Life Member, or already have renewed, your museum membership will have expired October 6 th , 2018. Renewals are $10.00 per year or $150.00 for a Life Membership. Cheques for memberships can be made payable to “S.W. Sask. Oldtimers’ Museum” & forwarded to: Box 1540, Maple Creek, Sask., S0N 1N0.
