A Swachh message for the New Year!!

“I don’t believe that the purpose of life is to be happy. I think the purpose is to

be useful, to be responsible, to be compassionate. It is above all to matter, to count,

to stand for something, to have made some difference that you lived at all”

This year let us resolve to do something meaningful for us, for our friends, our

parents and for our country. Malala yousafzai, in her Nobel Prize acceptance

speech said “This award is not just for me. It is for those forgotten children who

want education. It is for those frightened children who want peace. It is for those

voiceless who want change. Yes, my dear students we have the opportunity at our

doorstep, let us have the humility and dignity to uphold the values we have learnt

through education at Carmel. Let us not be fearful, but stand for the right thing and

not support the wrong around us, let us march towards tomorrow with clean

minds and hearts.

At Carmel this year the highlight has been the “Carmel Cleanliness Campaign”.

Let this swacch message for the new year give you all a swacch life, free of garbage.

Wishing each and everyone who belong to this wonderful Carmel Family, a

cheerful, successful and prosperous year 2015.

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Annual Day 2014, celebrating the year passed, was conducted in all glory. Mr. VIJAY RAGHAVAN, an educationist, Retd. Chemistry professor from K L E College, was the chief guest of the day. Principal Mrs. Sandhya Menezes, through the annual report proudly took us through the highlights of the eventful year of the college. Anjana Joshi, the president of the student council gave the gathering a summary of the student council activities conducted through the year.

No talents, hard work goes unrecognized in Carmel. Various awards were presented to the students who had shown a mark of excellence in the various aspects of academics, sports and extra curricular activities. Anjana N. Joshi and B.R. Amarnath were awarded “ The Best Outgoing Students ” of the year .

Then there was a plethora of colourful dances and melodious songs by First PUC students.

Farewell day was a day of mixed emotions. The seniors spoke about their experiences in Carmel which

was etched in their memories forever. The highlight of the event was an inspirational speech from Mrs

Sandhya Menezes, Mr. Roshan Menezes the Administrator spoke to the outgoing students and wished

them well. Mrs. Swetha R. student advisor expressed her feelings. The day ended with fellowship and

announcement of awards in various categories.

“ATTITUDE determines ALTITUDE”. It all started with a big question mark on the faces of IPU students on 7th June. They were all welcomed by the dynamic man of Carmel Mr Roshan Menezes and gorgeous principal Mrs. Sandhya Menezes. Students were all sizzled by the environment and they had a boost up speech by one of the seniors Anjana Joshi. With her inspiring speech students were all set for two years of wonderful moments in Carmel. Students were introduced to the teachers and the supporting staff.

They were briefed with the rules and regulations. This was followed by a two hour interactive session by Mrs. Suhasini who is a counselor. She shared with the students easy methods of learning and ways to be confident in life and how to face the problems faced by a teenager. Students took on with enthusiasm and excitement to spend two years as a part of Carmel family.

An orientation programme for staff was conducted on 7th June, 2014. The stage was taken by Dr. Ali Khwaja. He touched the areas of how to shoulder the responsibility of handling students, easy methods of teaching and methods of motivation. It was a session that teachers cherished.

An orientation programme for parents was conducted on 22nd June 2014. Mr. Roshan Menezes shared about the rules and regulations of the college. The staff introduced themselves to the parents. Then Mr. Ashwath Ramaiah, counselor, Unique Consultants Bangalore gave valuable tips to the parents as how to take care of the young adults.

Student Council has always been a reason for the success of various events.The council of the year 2014-2015 were elected through a fair system of voting by the students of their respective classes and in turn the core committee which consisted of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Cultural and Sports Secretaries were elected by the class mentors and prefects.

The investiture Ceremony was held on 26th June 2014 , this was the day for the elected members to take up their responsibilities and fulfill them with dedication throughout the year.

The chief guest for the day was Dr. M.C. Prakash Associate Professor Department of English V.V.S. First Grade College accompanied by administrator Mr.Roshan Menezes,Academic Director of Carmel School Mrs.Dorthy Menezes and Mrs.Sandhya

Menezes the Principal of Carmel PU College.The event started off with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, guest of honor and the members of the core committee.

.Then this was followed by the oath taking ceremony where all the council members were called upon and given their responsibilities, They were invested with power by the Administrator.

Student Council is said to be the heart of student’s life in the college campus. The team promised to work in unison and integrity.

On 12th July 2014, Carmel was raining with talents. MALHAR - Shower of talents 2014 was an event held as a battle between first years and second years, with talents as their choice of weapons. There was a spirit of both competition and camaraderie among the students who actively participated in the days events. Ms. Namratha, a former student of our college, who is presently a Cine and TV artist, was the guest of honour. She inaugurated the event and inspired the students in the creative pursuits. The day was marked with many exciting events like Duet Dance, Mad Ads, pick and speak, Brain storming, Mehendi Design and many more, in which the students participated with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. MALHAR gave an opportunity to students to showcase their talents and exhibit their creativity.New talents emerged from first year students. The second year students bagged the overall trophy. On the whole, 12th July 2014 made a mark on the Carmel Calender as a day of glitz, glamour, fun, frolic and oodles of talent…!

Annual News LetterJanuary 2015

Rendezvous, a carnival for all Carmelites, was celebrated this year on 25/08/2014. The main motto of the fest being skill, talent, competition, enjoyment and loads of fun marked an enjoyable experience for everyone who witnessed it.

A plethora of events was packed into a single day and the entire campus buzzed with talent and enthusiasm. Students came from all over Bangalore to be a part of this extravagant fest. With over 40 events happening around the campus, the time seemed to pass in a jot. With heavy hearts and joy, we await eagerly for the next “meeting”-The Rendezvous. This year 45 colleges participated among which Vidya Mandir P.U. College, Malleswaram, bagged the overall trophy. Mr. Suresh Peters, Music Director was the Chief guest at the occasion. Mr. & Mrs. Robert D’Souza the main sponsors of the event was the guest of honour.

On September 5th 2014, Teachers’ day, our

teachers were divided into teams and given different

colors as a theme. We got a lucky chance to see our

teachers exhibit their unique talents. Some of them

sang, danced, recited poetry and exhibited many more

amazing talents. Random questions were put up to the

teachers to understand how well they knew about

their students. Teachers participated in good spirit.

Students too were asked questions about their thank God that we got a chance to make the teachers teachers and were given chocolates. The day was just happy. We are glad that we could make it memorable filled with joy and love towards teachers. A week for them.before teachers day we had some games for them. We
