My Definition of Educational TechnologyUsing a variety of technological devices

to enhance and assist the learning for any student by creating a way to connect students with their class,

community and the rest of the world.

Kindergarten Technology

At home…• I watched TV and

movies on a VHS player. I had a cassette tape player for music.

At school…• We had a TV for our

grade level and our library had some computers for the library database.

High School Technology

Personally…• I had my own PC

laptop, cell phone, digital camera and iPod Nano. I used the internet to keep in contact with my friends through Myspace. I continued to watch TV, but there were better TVs and cable options.

In school…• Every classroom had a

type of projector and TV. Our grades and assignments were posted online through Edline. I did many research papers which required the use of the Internet, books, and tape recorder.

College Technology

Personally…• I have an Apple laptop

and iTouch. I use it to communicate with friends through email and AIM. I also have a Facebook to network with peers. I have created my own slideshow videos for friends and projects.

In school…• It is required to have a

laptop in the COE and many classes are held online. I submit assignments on Laulima and also use video chats to communicate with my classmates about projects and assignments.

A Vivid Technology Learning Experience

• My first internet-based research paper about the sense of smell.

• My first CD and CD player.

• Uploading music to my computer.

A technology I want to use in my classroom is…

• …a smart board for me and a 3G tablet laptop for every student. There will be no need for paper or writing utensils and all assignments and assessments will submitted electronically. Students will always have internet access to complete their work through the 3G network.

My Vision of the Classroom

of the FutureK-2 Grade

• Students will be able to read with their classmates through a website online using video chats. The website will also include games that they can play with their classmates to quiz on their reading comprehension.

3-5 Grade• Each student will

have their own avatar for the Second Life ® program. This will be used for students to learn about different cultures by interacting with students from around the world and observing their lifestyles and cities.

Challenges for Teaching

• Having enough technology for all my students

• Being able to monitor all student activity at one time

• Having multiple technical difficulties but only one or two adults around to help

Words of Wisdom “Give a man a fish; you

have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish and you have fed him for a lifetime. Teach a man to sell fish and he eats steak.”
