In a remote part of the countryside, in a little village lies a large, lush field. Two horses live on the field. From afar, they both seem quite alike, long manes, rich dark brown color and regal bearing. Yet, upon encountering the horses up close, dissimilarities become glaringly obvious – as one of the horses are blind.
The horse’s owner, aware of his deficiency, chose to keep him and constructed a safe and comfortable barn for the horse to reside in.
One can also discern a small copper bell on the other horse in the field which is attached to his halter so that his blind friend can be aware of where he is and follow him at all times.
Passerby’s could observe how the horse with the bell is continually looking out
for his blind friend and how the blind horse strains to listen for the bell and will then walk toward him; trusting him to lead him to good pastures. Of course, when the horses return to their barn each evening, the horse with the bell always ensures that his blind friend is not lagging too far so that he can hear the jingle of his bell.
Likewise, in our lives, Hashem does not desert us. Yes, it is He who knows our deficiencies more than anyone and it is He who knows our challenges and weaknesses. Yet, He loves us and will always continue to be there for us. Hashem sometimes brings others into our lives to aid us specifically when we are at a time of need. At times, we may be like the blind horse, guided by the ringing bell of those who are Hashem’s messengers. Though, at other times, we are the guide horse, helping other Yidden to find their way; lighting up their lives.
No one likes having a cold. It can make you feel achy, congested, sleepy, and just plain miserable. But wouldn’t knowing that you could shorten your misery make it more tolerable?
If you’ve read our previous articles, you’ll know we always emphasize the importance of cold prevention. But in our imperfect world, even the most vigorous of nutrition enthusiasts and supplement takers still get sick … once in a while.
The Basics of Cold Busting: Rest and FluidsWhen trying to stop a cold in its tracks, getting enough fluids and rest should be a top priority.
Drinking fluids helps to loosen mucus and prevent dehydration, which is more likely when you have a cold. A cold may also come along with a fever, which can also decrease your fluid stores.
Rest provides the energy your body needs to fight illness. Pretty straightforward, right?
As such, hitting the gym while you’re sick can actually lower your defenses. So do yourself a favor and stay at home when you’re sick.
Enhance Your Sleep and Immune System with MelatoninSleep recharges your immune system. But let’s be honest. It can sometimes be hard to sleep when you’re ill. Luckily, there are safe aids like melatonin that can help with that.
Not only does melatonin help you sleep,1 it also offers immune-boosting effects. Studies show it activates several members of the immune system, including T-cells and natural killer cells,2which play crucial roles in warding off pathogens.
To optimize the immune-boosting effects of melatonin while you’re sick, higher dosages such as 3 mg/day are typically suggested.

Although the first Swiss Army Knife was built by a German company in 1891 is the most iconic example of a multitool, it wasn’t the first one. In fact, it wasn’t even close to being the first one. The oldest surviving example dates back to the Roman Empire times. Implements such as spoons and knives were bound together in knots of silver and iron.
Check out what they looked like on the pic to the right,.
