Jamie Spinney is a teacher-scholar who is best described as a broadly-trained geographer, with professional
training as a high-school teacher, an adult educator, an urban/ regional planner, and a geographic information
scientist. With more than half a decade of university teaching experience coupled with decades of academic
research experience, his teaching and research interests are interdisciplinary and focus on contemporary social,
economic, and environmental issues, particularly as they relate to planning healthy and sustainable communities.
