Need for Vaccines
• Since the beginning of time illness and disease have plagued mankind
• Vaccinations offer protection
and prevention
• The goal of immunization is to prevent disease from occurring
Newaygo County compared to Healthy People 2020 Goal
• Healthy People 2020 target “pneumococcal and flu vaccines in the adult population ages 65 and above is 90%
• Newaygo County’s children ages 19-35 months maintain a 70% overall vaccination rate
Newaygo County Needs
• Newaygo County is the 36th most populated
county in the state of Michigan
• 18.6% live below the poverty line
• 13.9% of county residents did not use
health care last year due to cost
• 19.3% have no health insurance
• There are 1291 community members
per primary care physician in Newaygo County compared to the State average of 874
Wheels of Wellness Mobile Vaccination Clinic
GOALS• Decrease barriers to
healthcare due to lack of insurance, transportation,
and language difficulties
• Provide mobile healthcare to minorities, migrant workers, and those living in poverty

Wheels of Wellness Organizational GoalsThe main goal for the Wheels of Wellness is to
educate the public on the importance of vaccinations resulting in at least 85% rate of residents in Newaygo County vaccinated by
2015.
Wheels of Wellness Organizational ObjectivesThe objectives of Wheels of Wellness is to educate the public on the
importance of vaccinations and administer these vaccinations.
•To have a 9% decrease in preventable, vaccinate able illnesses in• Newaygo and surrounding counties by 2013.
•To have a 15% decrease in the diagnosis of pertussis in Newaygo County by 2015.
•To have a 100% of the residents in Newaygo County who choose not to be vaccinated
• leave our program with the education material necessary to make an informed decision by 2015.

• Job Purpose:

• Qualifications: Familiar and background noted to successfully complete all duties. No financial ties with Wheels of Wellness.
Wheels of Wellness Job description: Clinical Nurse
Manager• Job Purpose: To manage immunization team.
• Duties: – Responsible to manage clinical immunization team.– Responsible for scheduling of team members and
mobile clinic schedule.– Manages materials and bus maintenance. – Manages documentation forms, including review of
documentation for completion.– Familiar with State, Federal and Health Department
regulations, policies and procedures related to immunization administration and staff adherence.
– Manages budgeting, billing, accounting, payroll and mobile lab financial responsibilities
Qualifications: BSN,MSN or Nurse Practitioner preferred . Strong leadership skills.
Wheels of Wellness Job description: RN• Job Purpose: To provide holistic care for clients
related to immunization.
• Duties:– Review client history for appropriate immunization

Qualifications: RN, BSN preferred. BLS Certified. Strong leadership skills. Functional understanding of Spanish language a plus.

• Job Purpose: Assist in providing care related to immunization for preventable disease.
• Duties: – Receives and registers clients.– Assists in collection and review of client history for
appropriate immunization administration and education.
– Assists team leader in immunization administration.– Assists in counseling clients related to immunization
options. – Assists in supplying immunization education.
• Qualifications: Licensed in Michigan as a NA.

Bus Driver/Security• Job Purpose: Drive mobile clinic lab bus. Supply security for mobile lab team on site.
• Duties:– Assist with mobile clinic stocking.– Drive to clinic sites, assist with set up and
maintain safety and security at site.– Document and report clinic and security issues.– Responsible for legal responsibilities in regards
to transportation and security concerns related
to mobile clinic.
• Qualifications: Current Michigan chauffer’s license. Security experience. Functional understanding of Spanish language.
Wheels of Wellness Job Description:
Biller/Accountant• Job Purpose: To maintain financial records
including billing clients, payroll, purchasing • and other accounting requirements.
• Duties: – Responsible for billing, accounts payable and
accounts receivable and payroll. – Responsible with all regulations and laws
related to accounting practices.

Wheels of Wellness Direction and Funding
Board of Directors• A Board of Directors will be in place to oversee the
mobile clinic. The Board of Directors will be responsible for writing and enforcing policies and procedures, they will also be involved in hiring staff and the employees will be able to report to the Board with major concerns. The Board of Directors will consist of a Physician, Nurse, Nurse assistant, Lawyer and at least two Lay persons.
Funding• Where will Wheels of Wellness get the funds needed
to be successful? A few avenues to consider for funding would be private grants, donations, the Salvation Army or the United Way. Keeping operational costs to a minimum will enable Wheels of Wellness to serve the greatest number of clients to stay within the proposed budget.
