Jamberoo Centre continued...
Mrs. Heyman and her Year 9 JC class have embarked upon an exciting project in the Jamberoo Garden.
Mrs. Heyman explains, “We are going to create a ‘Sensory Garden’ which will create a kind and uplifting
environment and make the place look more welcoming.”

which will be progressively filled with images.
Students have begun to research, plan and design elements of the garden, which include looking online for
images, organising them and painting them on the wall to create a mural as well as decorating rocks around
the seating area.
“We have done some planning on our ‘rock’ worksheets and have searched for images, mainly animals such
as rabbits and other pets”, says student Riordan Burrows.

Australian Defence Forces talks
The school will be hosting the Australian Defence Forces on Wednesday, 27 June 2018. This is a great
opportunity for students who are considering a career in any of the armed forces to gain information and
ask questions. Students are encouraged to see Mr Wishart to add their name to the list if they wish to attend
as spaces are limited.
Annual snow trip
The snow is falling and this year we have one bus travelling down to the
Snowy Mountains for three days of fun skiing and snowboarding. All money
needs to be paid to the front office by the end of term 2, Friday, 6 July.
UOW open day – Saturday, 11 August 2018
Held at the University of Wollongong campus, this is a great opportunity for students and their families to
find out more about UOW courses and university life.
Year 10 into Year 11 subject selection
Over the past two weeks I have been talking to Year 10 students about course selections for Year 11 and
Year 12. The sessions included looking at the HSC and the ATAR, and how they can be achieved by
studying a combination of course options here at school and externally. We also investigated what types of
courses are relevant for different career pathways. An information night for parents and students will be held
here at school on Monday, 6 August. Year 10 parents should note this date in their calendars.
Master Builders guest speaker
Last week we had a visit from the Master Builders Association. Mr Bennett’s Year 11 and Year 12
Construction classes and students from Year 10, who are considering careers in the trades industry, were
motivated with a very informative session about the opportunities available and the processes of going about
attaining apprenticeships.
Careers as a paramedic
Deciding to become a paramedic is a life-changing decision.
Being a paramedic is about a lot more than lights and sirens and
rushing to help someone in need. Paramedics perform clinical
procedures, administer drugs, maintain patient records and
decide which is the most appropriate medical facility for further
treatment of the patient.
There are different types of paramedics, and to find out more,
