Profile of the Society
The Society of Jamal Mohamed College is established in a
sprawling land area of 87 acres (60 acres in the present location
and 27 acres in Veerampatti Village near Bharathidasan University)
as a religious minority institution with the primary objective of
providing higher education to the down-trodden and socially
backward sections of the society in general and Muslim minority in
particular. Hajee M. Jamal Mohamed Sahib and Janab. N.M.Khajamian
Rowther of revered memory were the founding fathers.
In addition to Jamal Mohamed College (Autonomous), the Society
has established and is administering the following
institutions:
i) Jamal Mohamed College Typewriting Institute (2007) approved
by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Tamil
Nadu.
ii) Jamal Mohamed College of Teacher Education (2007) offering
B.Ed. Course approved by National Council for Teacher Education,
Bangalore and affiliated to Bharathidasan University,
Tiruchirappalli in 2007 and later to Tamilnadu Teacher Education
University, Chennai from 2008
iii) Jamal Mohamed College Ayesha Girls Matriculation Higher
Secondary School (2009) approved by Director of Matriculation
Schools, Government of Tamilnadu.
iv) Jamal Mohamed College of Hotel Management Industrial School
(2009) approved by Department of Employment & Training,
Government of Tamil Nadu.
Profile of the College
MANAGEMENT OF THE COLLEGE
The college was founded in 1951 and the founding Management
Committee of the college consisted of Janab N.M.Khajamian Rowther
as the founder President (1951-1954), Janab.M.J.Jamal Mohideen
Sahib as the founder Secretary (1951-1966) and Janab N.M.K.Abdul
Samad Sahib (1951-1964) as the founder Treasurer. Janab. M. J.
Jamal Mohideen also took over as the President from 1954 after the
demise of Janab N.M.Khajamian Rowther and remained till 1975.

Hajee. M. J. Jamaludeen Sahib, who succeeded Janab. M. J. Jamal
Mohideen Sahib as Secretary and Correspondent from 1966, functioned
till 1973. Hajee. N. M. K. Abdul Khader Sahib, served as Treasurer
from 1964 till 1973. On the sad demise of Hajee. M. J. Jamaludeen
Sahib, Hajee. N.M. K. Abdul Khader Sahib took over as Secretary and
Correspondent in the year 1973 and served till 1988. Hajee.
M.J.M.Abdul Gafoor Sahib took over as Treasurer in the year
1973.
Hajee. M. B. Abdullah Sahib, who served as the President from
1975 to 1988, also served asSecretary for one year from 1988 to
1989. Hajee. K. A. Khaleel Ahamed Sahib became the Treasurer in
1989 and served upto 2017.
Janab. N. M. K. Abdul Khaliq Sahib was the President from 1989
till 1995. Janab M. J. Noordeen Sahib served as President from 1996
to 2014. Hajee. M.J. Jamal Mohamed Bilal Sahib was included as a
member in the Society of Jamal Mohamed College and also elected as
President in 2014.
Hajee. M. J. M. Abdul Gafoor Sahib, served as Treasurer from
1973 to 1989. He was elected as Secretary and Correspondent in 1989
and served till 2011. He had the distinction of serving during the
time of Silver Jubilee, the Golden Jubilee and Diamond Jubilee of
the college.
Dr. A. K. Khaja Nazeemudeen Sahib, who has been serving as the
member of the ManagementCommittee from 1995 was elected to the post
of Assistant Secretary in the year 2003 and was elected asSecretary
& Correspondent in 2011.
Hajee. M. J. Jamal Mohamed Sahib was included as a member in the
Society of Jamal MohamedCollege and also elected as Assistant
Secretary in 2011 and served upto 2017. He was also elected as
theTreasurer in 2017.
Dr. K. Abdus Samad was inducted as a member in the Society of
Jamal Mohamed College and also elected as Assistant Secretary in
2017.
The college has grown from strength to strength under the able
leadership of great men who adorned the seat of Principalship from
1951 onwards. Late.Alhaj Janab. M.J.Moh amed Sayeed M.A.,LT, was
the firstPrincipal from 1951 to 1970. Prof. E.W.P.Thomas M.A.,
was the Principal from 1970 to 1971. Late Hajee.Prof.
E.P.Mohamed Ismail became the Principal in 1971 and held the office
upto 1985.
Dr. C. Nainar Mohamed M.A., Ph.D., was the Principal from 1985
to 1989. Prof.Hajee.N.Abdul Samadh M.A., M.Phil., became the next
Principal and held the office from 1989 to 1998. Dr.K.Abdullah
Basha M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D., was the Principal from 1998 to
2003.

Dr. M. Sheik Mohamed M.Com., M.Phi l, FICWA., PGDCA., PGDFM.,
Dip.MA, MBA., M.Phil (Mangt), Ph.D., was the Principal from 2003 to
2011.
Dr. R. Khader Mohideen, M.Com.,M.B.A., M.Phil, Ph.D., was the
Principal from 2011 to 2013. Dr. A. M. Mohamed Sindhasha,
M.Com.,M.Sc.(Psy), M.Phil., M.B.A., Ph.D., was the Principal from
1st June 2013 to 24th June 2014.
Dr. S. Mohamed Salique, M.Sc., B.Ed., Ph.D., Dip. in Arabic was
the Principal incharge from 25th June 2014 to 18th July 2014.
Dr. S. Mohamed Salique, M.Sc., B.Ed., Ph.D., Dip. in Arabic was
the Principal from 19th July 2014 to 31st May 2017.
Dr. S. Ismail Mohideen, M.Sc., M.Phil., PGDCA., Ph.D. was
appointed as the Principal from 1st June 2017.

PROFILE OF COURSES
• Jamal Mohamed College was founded in 1951, as an affiliated
college to the University of Madras and then affiliated to
Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, since its inception in
1982.
• The college was inaugurated on 11th July 1951 by Hon'ble.
Thiru.P.S.Kumarasamy Raja, the then Chief Minister of Madras with
His Excellency, the Maharaja of Bhavanagar, the then Governor of
Madras presiding over the function.
• Over the period of 6 decades, the college was able to scale
greater and greater heights and rise to the present status as a
multi-faculty institution with 11 UG programmes, 11 PG programmes
and 2 M.Phil. Programmes under Government Aided stream and 9 U.G.
programmes and 14 P.G. programmes under self financing stream for
men by promoting quality and excellence in higher education due to
the sustained efforts and dedicated leadership given by the College
Management Committee. The college also offers 15 U.G. and 14 P.G.
programmes exclusively for women as part of women empowerment
during the second shift of the College. 17 M.Phil and 15 Ph.D
programmes are offered both men and women under self financing
stream.
• In the year 1951, the college had Intermediate Courses,
B.A.Economics, B.A.(Islamic History) and B.Com courses with an
initial student strength of 250 and staff strength of 12. Later
several undergraduate courses like B.A.English literature,
B.Sc.Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Zoology were added.
• During the year 1957 the college bagged all prizes in several
intercollegiate competitions organized by the University of Madras
as part of its Centenary Celebrations. At that time the college got
the single honour of being bracketed with the thirty best colleges
in India when Danforth Foundation of USA selected the college for
the award of study fellowships in U.S.A. to three of the faculty
members Prof. V.Hari Rao, Prof.Devanathan and Prof.Mohamed
Essa.
• In 1963 the college was elevated to the status of a
post-graduate college with affiliation granted for M. A. Economics
and M.Sc.Mathematics. Other PG courses like Physics, English
Literature, Zoology, and Commerce were added subsequently.
• In the year 1972, the college was upgraded as a Centre for
advance research work leading to the Doctorate degree in the PG
Department of Zoology. The PG Department of Physics was recognized
as a Centre for Ionospheric Research programme was conducted in col
laborat ion with the Physical Research Laboratories, Ahmedabad. In
subsequent years, research programmes leading to M.Phil and Ph.D
were added in the Departments of Mathematics, Chemistry, English,
Commerce, Economics, Tamil, Botany, and Physics.

• During the year 1972, the college was recognized by UGC New
Delhi, for Grant purposes under section 2(F) and 12(B) of the
University Grants Commission Act 1956.
• In 1977-78, on the recommendation of the University of Madras,
the UGC recognized the college as one of the ten “Lead Colleges” in
the university area. As a lead college, select courses and
programmes were started in collaboration with leading business
houses and employment
agencies, with a view to providing qualitative development and
academic lead to the colleges in the region.
• In 1986, B.Sc. Computer Science course was started marking the
beginning of Computer Era in the college. In subsequent years,
courses like MCA, M.Sc. Computer Science, M.Sc. (IT), M.Sc.
Microbiology were added to the already existing courses.
• In 1996, the college was selected by the UGC to offer
vocational course entitled “Office Management and Secretarial
Practice” at the UG level upto the year 2002.
• In tune with the changes taking place in all walks of life, in
1999 the management of the college started exclusive women sections
both at the UG and PG level in the subjects like Computer Science,
Information Technology, Commerce, Business management, Mathematics,
English and Arabic literature leading to Women’s empowerment.
• The AICTE-approved MBA course was started in the year 2000
with a view to providing adequate managerial talents both in the
public and private sector organisations.
• During 2003-04, separate sections for women in MBA was
started. Separate College Day, Sports Day & Convocations were
held from 2003-04 onwards. Separate NSS and NCC wings were started
for women.
• During the year 2004-05 the AICTE accorded extension of
approval to the existing MCA Self Finance courses conducted from
1992 onwards. The existing MCA and M.Sc. Computer Science evening
programmes were converted as regular Day College programmes. In
addition to it, for men, M.Sc.Bio-Technology and B.Com Additional
Section, B.Litt. were introduced in the regular day college, as
self finance courses. M.Phil. in Chemistry, Computer
Science and Arabic were also started.
• UGC, Government of Tamil Nadu and Bharathidasan University
conferred Autonomous status for a period of 6 years from 2004-2005
for all programmes including the AICTE approved M.C.A. & M.B.A.
by introducing Choice Based Credit System.
• During 2005-2006, B.Sc. Chemistry, B.Sc. Physics, M.Sc.
Mathematics for women and M.A. History and B.B.A. for men under
self-financing scheme were started.

• During 2005-2006 UGC approved Six Career Oriented Programmes
(COP) leading to Certificate, Diploma and Advance Diploma courses
in Journalism, Tourism and Travel Management, Functional Urdu,
Computer Application and Multilingual with Printing Technology,
Domestic Chemistry and Quality Assurance, Medical Lab. Technology
and Computer Hardware and Network Administration.

• During 2006-2007 Master of Social Work, M.Sc.
(Bio-Informatics), M.Phil. in Management Studies were started.
AICTE accorded extension of approval to the existing MCA regular
course (Govt. Aided) conducted from 1988-89 onwards, thus making
the total approved intake to 120 students strength. The Evening
College M.Sc. Chemistry was converted into Day College Programme
under self-financing stream.
• During 2007-08 additional sections were approved by university
for B.Sc. (CS), BCA and BBA for men under self-financing scheme.
The evening college sections of M.Sc. (Physics), M.Sc.(IT), M.Sc.
(Zoology), M.Sc.(Microbiology), and B.Sc.(CS) for Men were
converted into Day College programme under self-finance stream.
• During 2007-2008 new restructured syllabus for UG with 144
credits and PG with
80 credits are followed.
• During March 2008, the Academic Council approved the common
CBCS syllabus for all the courses under common Choice Based Credit
System as prepared and approved by the respective Board of Studies
for each subject for implementation for a period of 3 years from
2008-2009 onwards with 140 credits for UG and 90 credits for
PG.
• Computerized Calligraphy Training Centre approved by National
Council for promotion of Urdu Language (Ministry of HRD, New Delhi)
is offering Diploma in Computer Applications and Multilingual
DTP.
• The Dept of Commerce is accredited by ICWA Institute for
offering coaching in Foundation courses in ICWA,Tally Accounting
Packages and CAT.
• Department of Economics is offering Typewriting and Shorthand
courses to the students. The centre has 22 typewriters. The centre
is approved by the Department of Technical Education as Jamal
Mohamed College Typewriting Institute.

• The Guidance and Counseling Centre is offering remedial
education and competitive coaching classes to educationally
backward and minority community students and SC / ST students.
• During 2008-09, the B.Sc. Hotel Management & Catering
Science and B.Sc.(I.T) were offered for Men. B.Litt. (Tamil), B.Sc.
Nutrition & Dietetics and B.Sc. Fashion Technology &
Costume Design were started for women. Additional Sections in
M.S.W., B.Sc. Computer Science, B.C.A., B.Com., M.Sc, Biotechnology
and M.Sc. Microbiology were started for women. Additional sections
in B.Com., B.B.A., B.A.
English Litt. were started for men. During 2008-2009 new
Affiliations were received from the University for 18 Sections, the
highest number of Affiliations ever received.
• During 2008-09, Permanent Affiliation orders were received for
B.Com (4 Sections), BBA (2 Sections), B.Sc Computer Science (4
Sections), BA English (2 Sections), M.Com and B.Sc Mathematics.
During 2009-10 Permanent Affiliation orders were received for M.A
English, M.Sc Computer Science (2 Sections), M.Sc Information
Technology (2 Sections), MBA and MCA.,13 M.Phil,12 Ph.D and 7
Career Oriented Programmes in addition to 11 UG,11PG,2 M.Phil
Government Aided programmes. However there are 40 UG & PG
sections in Self Finance with provisional affiliation
• During 2009-10 Affiliations were obtained for Ph.D., in
Management Studies and Computer science, 2 Sections in B.Com, one
Section each in B.Sc Mathematics, BA English and M.Com. During
2009-10 AICTE approved an additional intake of 60 in MBA, making
the total intake as
120. The University has also accorded Affiliation for the same.
Application was also received for UGC approved Carrer Oriented
Programme on Computer Application in Commerce.
• During 2009-10, Arabic and Islamic Research Centre was
established with the funding from Saudi Embassy, New Delhi.
• The Entrepreneurial Development cell was established to train
the students with the skills to start the business. UGC Sponsered
Day care centre, Equal opportunity
centre and Centre for Diffrently abled persons were
established.
• The free internet browsing Centre and Language labs are
established for students

• During 2009-10, on completion of 6 years of Autonomy, the
university sent the Review Committee for Renewal of Autonomy
status. On the basis of the report from the University committee
the UGC sent its review committee which visited and inspected the
facilities during July 2010. The orders from UGC and University for
Extension of Autonomy from 2010-11 upto 2015-16 were received.
• During 2010-11, Additional section in M.A.,English,
M.Sc,Mathematics for men, 4 year B.S.Bio Technology and additional
section in B.Sc, IT for women, PG Diploma in Islamic Banking and
Financial Management, PG Diploma in Fermentation Technology and UGC
approved COP course in E-Mathematical Tools were started.
• During 2010-11, Permanent affiliation orders were received for
MBA(Additional Section – I), M.Sc., Bio Technology (2 Sections) and
M.Sc., Chemistry (2 Sections)
• During 2011-12, Awarded “College with Potential for Excellence
Status” with a financial grant of Rs. 1.5 Crores by the UGC, New
Delhi
• During 2011-12, Awarded Accreditation for 3 Years for M.B.A.,
Programme by National Board of Accreditation of AICTE, New
Delhi.
• The College started M.Sc., Fashion Technology and M.Sc.,
Nutrition & Dietetics for women Students. The College has
revised the syllabus for all UG, PG and M.Phil., Courses from
2011-12.
• During 2011-12, General (Triennial) Inspection Commission from
Bharathidasan University visited the College to review the
conditions of affiliated Colleges.
• During 2012-13, Review committee from Bharathidasan University
visited the College to conduct the M.Phil., programmes.
• During 2012-13, M.Phil., and Ph.D., programme were started in
Microbiology and Biotehnology and Ph.D., in Physical
Education.During the same year B.Sc., Biotechnology and Advaced
Diploma in Computer Applications with Arabic were started.

• During the academic year 2013-14, P.G. Diploma in Biodiversity
Informatics under UGC sponsored innovative scheme was
introduced.
• During 2013-14, Our College is identified by the Ministry of
Human Resource Development (MHRD) as one of the 45 Colleges in
India to be accorded the power to grant degrees in the status of a
state university.
• During 2014-15, Jamal Institute of Management has been ranked
in Category 'A' by the All India Management Association (AIMA), New
Delhi, Business Standard B-Schools Ratings.
• During the academic year 2015-16, B.Sc. Microbiology for
women, B.Sc., Mathematics (Additional Section - III) for women and
B.Com. (Additional Section - VIII) for men were started.
• Our College was Re-accredited by NAAC in the Third Cycle and
we obtained ‘A’ Grade in 2015-16 and the status was extended upto
May 2023.
• The Seventh Additional Section for BCA (Men) and Ninth
Additional Section for B.Com. (Women) were started, also B.Sc.
Visual Communication course was started in 2016-17.
• The UGC has granted extension of Autonomous Status to our
college for a further period of Six years from 2016-17 to
2021-22.
• During the academic year 2016-2017 B.Sc., (Visual
Communication) was started for Men Students.
• The Seventh Additional Section for BCA (Men) and Ninth
Additional Section for B.Com (Women) were started.
• College was bestowed with the unique honour of “CPE” status
(Phase-II) by the University Grants Commission in 2016-2017.
• During the year 2016 - 2017, Ph. D. programme in History was
introduced.
• The syllabi for UG, PG, M. Phil and other programmes were
revised during the year 2016 – 2017 for implementations from the
academic year 2017 - 2018.
• During 2017-18, M.Phil., Nutrition and Dietetics Course was
started. A Centre for Islamic Cultural Research was also
established.
• Our College was ranked as one of the Top hundred colleges
(83rd rank) in the National Institutional Ranking Framework in
2017-18 by MHRD, New Delhi.
• The Conferement of Muslim Minority Status was given by the
Government of Tamil Nadu for the period of five years from 2017-18
to 2021-22.
• The College, over the past 67 years, has grown into a
multi-faculty institution offering diverse Under-Graduate and
Post-Graduate Courses of study, especially in frontier areas like
Computer Science, Information Technology, Bio-Technology,
Microbiology and Business Management.
• The doors of the College are open to all without distinction
of caste, creed or colour. The College is sincerely engaged in
spreading the light of Knowledge and edifying young men and women
who will be the pride of this great country.

• Many of our past students now occupy covetable positions in
India and abroad in the field of Science and Technology, in Indian
Administrative Services, Judiciary, Police Department, Information
Technology etc. all vouchsafing to the quality of education to
which they were exposed in this campus.
FACILITIES
• The college that began in just a single building JAMAL
MOHIDEEN Building, the beautiful Main Block with only a ground
floor to house the class rooms, laboratories and library, has now
witnessed phenomenal growth and expansion. Founder Treasurer
N.M.K.Abdul Samad Memorial Block, Founder Secretary M.J.Jamal
Mohideen Memorial Block, Haji N.M.K.Abdul Khader Memorial Block,
Hautin Block, MM Ismail Block, Minna Noordin Block, Mohideen Sha
Block, Hussainudeen Hall, Shanawaz Hall, Tansri Ubaidullah Hall,
AvM Mohamed Ibrahim Block housing the Computer Science Centre,
Marhabha Tajunnisa Block, Prof.EPM. Ismail Block, were added to
adorn the landscape of Jamal Mohamed College.
• A spacious Library, Auditorium and the Mosque offer great
facilities for the spiritual and intellectual development of the
students. A Branch of the Indian Overseas Bank, a Post Office, a
Canteen and a Telecom Center cater to the needs of the students,
staff and others.
• During 2003-2004, the concrete roof structure was constructed
in the first floor of the Jamal Mohideen Building for
Bio-Technology Department. Library, Office and Prayer Hall for
Women were also constructed.
• Bachelor Staff Quarters, Modern Toilets and marble flooring in
Mosque were completed.
• Separate road was laid near auditorium for the movement of
Hostel students. Staff Car Parking Shed was constructed. Office
automation with separate cabin for each section was done.
• During 2004-2005, separate Halls for Alumni Association,
Curriculum Development Cell, Internal Quality Assurance Cell and
Controller of Examination Office were completed. The II floor of
Economics and Computer Science Departments were completed. A Second
Auditorium with class rooms in the first floor was completed.
Internet connection is given to all Departments. Access is open to
staff and students. A Computer Multi-Service Centre is set up in
the Mathematics Department. Chemistry and Botany Research Labs are
also completed.

• During 2005-06, the Jeddah Alumni MBA Block with three floors
was completed. It has a well established library, state-of-the-art
Computer Centre, Seminar Hall and Conference Halls. Students
Service Centre was constructed with the MP Local Area Development
Scheme of Thiru L.Ganesan, M.P., an illustrious former student of
the College. Separate Laboratories were established under the
DST-sponsored FIST programs in the Departments of Physics, Botany
and Zoology. The Second floor in the Hautin Block was added in
memory of Kilakarai IR8 Syed Mohamed. Alumni
Guest house was constructed in the campus.
• During 2006-07, the construction of Canteen for Women, new
Computer Block, new Block for B.Ed. and Additional MBA Programme,
second floor in the new Auditorium, Canteen New Building and Cycle
stand for Women are completed.
• During 2007-08, Kilakarai Alhaj M.A.M.A. Abdul Karim Endowment
Building for Anna University Office, sponsored by Janab A.Noorul
Haque, ETA-Ascon, Dubai is completed. Two major Tiolet Blocks first
and Second Floor in L.Ganesan, M.P., Block, G.K.Vasan, M.P. Block.
SRM Group Endowment Block, Second Floor in Marhaba Thajunnissa
Block are completed.
• During 2008-09, ChitharKottai Annai Fathimuthu Zuhara Memorial
Block, Thiru. L.Ganesan MP second Block. NM Khajamian Rowther
Memorial Auditorium, NM Mohamed Mian Memorial Block (IT Block),
Haji.M. Jamal Mohamed Memorial Block (B.Ed., Block).Thiru.
Ganadesikan MP Hall, New UG Hostel Block are completed. The Thiru
Trichy Siva, M.P Hall is completed.
• During 2009-10, Kilakarai Seenathana Memorial Trust Hall,
Rajaghiri Hajee S.A.abdul Malick Memorial Hall, Al Manhal and
Irumeni OSM Mohamed Ibrahim Memorial Hall (New MBA Block),
President M.J.Noordeen Hall, Secretary Hajee.M.J.M. Abdul Gafoor

Dr.TR.Pachamuthu, Chancellor, SRM University, Chennai.Computer
Laboratories for DST sponsored FIST Programme in the Department of
Mathematics and Seperate Computer Lab for Economics Department are
established. Separate Computer Lab for Commerce women students,

Chemistry Lab and PG Physics lab for M.Sc, SF students were
established. 12 Generators of 64 KV and 3 Generators of 128 KV are
setup in the campus.

• During 2011-12, a Multi purpose hall was constructed in the
Khajamian Hoste premises with a view to provide space for breaking
the fast during Ramazan month, reading facilities and for playing
indoor games.
• During 2012-13, Committee Member Haji. K.N.S.A. Rahmathullah
Hall, Assistant Secretary Haji. M. J. Jamal Mohamed Hall were
declared open in the College Campus. Construction of Kulalampur
Mariam Ismail Hall, Kuwait Alumni Hall was completed and inmates
were accommodated in these blocks in Khajamian Hostel Campus.
Construction of UGC Women Hostel Block was completed and students
were accommodated in these blocks. Chennai Alumni Hostel Blocks
were declared open in the names of these sponsors:

• During 2012-13, Hajima. Badroon Beevi Memorial Hall (II Floor
of UGC Women Hostel Block) was constructed and it was partially
sponsored by the grand children by Hajima. Badroon Beevi (Janab.
Majeed Rowthar). Lt. Col. Dr. Govindasamy Hall was completed and
declared open. New B.Ed Block with a Guest House was declared open
and UGC Aided Multipurpose Indoor Stadium was declared open.
• During 2013-14, III Floor of UGC Women Hostel Block, Dining
Hall in the Women Hostel, UGC Aided Multipurpose Indoor Stadium –
Power Room, Guest House annexed to N.B.Abdul Gafoor Auditorium,
Director Room annexed to Administrative Block in the Khajamian
Hostel, E.B. Room cum Record Rooms Ground & I Floor in
Quadrangle of the Main Building of the College, Shopping Complex,
Watchman Room in the Play Ground, Renovated Mathematics Seminar
Hall with Air Condition facility, Addition to the existing
facilites in the New Canteen and Child Care Centre are
constructed.
• During 2014-15, II Floor in the New B.Ed College, II Floor of
Chennai Alumni Block at Khajamian Hostel premises, Singapore
Auditor Dr. Mohiadeen Abdul Kader Hall built by him in memory of
his father Nagore A. Mohamed Yusop (II Floor in the Self Finance
Office Men), Women’s Prayer Hall and Day Care Centre are
constructed.

• During 2015-16, I Floor of Director Room annexed to
Administrative Block in the Khajamian Hostel, Mess Staff Rest room
(I Floor of Dining Hall-III) at Khajamian Hostel premises,
Cafeteria in the Khajamian Hostel, I Floor of Dining Hall in the
Women Hostel and Gymnasium in College Ground are constructed.
• During 2016-17, Laboratory in the II Floor of M.J.M. Jamal
Mohideen Building (College Main building), III floor in the Chitar
Kottai Annai Fathimuthu Zuhara Memorail Block, III Floor in the
Alhaj Jinnah M.P Hall and Khajamian Hostel New Toilet Block are
constructed.
• During 2017-18, Visual Communication Lab – Audio Visual
Studio, Singapore Alumni Block (II Floor in the Almanhal Block),
Third Floor in the Trichy N. Siva MP Hall, Renovated and Air
Conditioned the N.M.Khajamian Auditorium, Remodelled the College
Main Garden (in front of the Main Building), Renovated two computer
labs in the Computer Science Department, Renovated the UG lab in
the Chemistry Department, Annexure Hall to Women Hostel Guest
House, Drinking water sump for the storage of Corporation Water at
Khajamian Hostel premises, Indoor Stadium and UGC Women Hostel
Block, Open Bath Room in the Mosque Hostel at Khajamian Hostel
premises, Toilet Block on the Ground and First Floors in the Women
Hostel, Women Toilet Block (Near the Minna Block), Over Head Tank
in the Almanhal Terrace and Our Magnanimous Management in
Collaboration with Trichy City Corporation has designed a compost
fertilizer yard in our College Men hostel, to promote organic
garden. Mr. Ravichandran, Commissioner of Tiruchirappalli City
Corporation along with other officials appreciated our earnest
efforts of the yard designed for the first time in
Tiruchirappalli.
RESEARCH
• All the Departments in the college are research Departments
providing facilities to undergo M.Phil and Ph.D. programmes and
they continuously produce a sizeable number of Ph.Ds and M.Phils
almost every year. Many of these Departments have carried out Major
and Minor research projects supported by leading funding agencies
like UGC, DAE, IAEC, INSA, ICSSR, DST, etc.
• Many of our members of staff have visited foreign countries
like Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea, Italy, USA,
Canada, Israel, France, Spain, Dubai, Australia, Germany, Finland,
Thailand, Mauritius etc, for presenting papers and delivering
lectures in their areas of specialization.
• From 2003 - 2004 onwards The Jamal Academic Research Journal:
an Interdisciplinary, the bi-annual Research Journal was published
as a referred journal.
• Monetary incentives are given to Professors for publication of
research articles in reputed Journals and guiding Scholars in
M.Phil & Ph.D programme.
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
• Beside academic activities, the College has been giving due
encouragement and fullest support to extracurricular activities
like Sports, NCC, NSS, Leo, Rotary,Anti-dowry, Youth Red Cross,
Consumer Club, FineArts, USSC, Red Ribbon Club, etc.

• NCC of Jamal is well known in Tamil Nadu for its smartness and
efficiency. Jamal has taken NSS activities also in a big way and is
going to villages with a helping hand to mitigate their suffering
and ameliorate their backward condition. An outreach program of the
College - JAMCROP - (Jamal Mohamed College Community reach-out
programme) has been launched during April 2007 by adopting
Poonampalayam Village, aimed at providing all urban facilities in
the rural area.
• In athletics, sports and games, the College has been acclaimed
all over Tamil Nadu and has earned glory in every field.

State Level for the last 6 years.
• Student canteen is functioning effectively.
• Every year 100 poor students are admitted in the hostel free
of rent.
• A hospital is functioning in the hostel with 5 beds and one
duty doctor.
• Local / STD / ISD booth are functioning in the hostel (Two
booths) free of service charges.
• Free Internet facilities are given to the students in the two
hostels.
• Training in Job Oriented and Skill Development Programmes are
given to the students.
• Free NET / SLET coaching classes are conducted by Tamil
Department to all students.
• Common Rest Room (separate for men & women), Cycle sheds,
Two Wheeler parking sheds, protected drinking water and modern
toilets are provided.
• Language Laboratory is functioning. HOSTEL
• The Khajamian Hostel, one of the biggest hostels in Tamil
Nadu, houses about 2500 inmates providing all facilities. The PG
New Hostel houses 1000 Women Students. Besides there are separate
hostels for sportsmen, PG and research scholars and M.B.A students.
The night soil bio gas plant and steam Plants are setup as a
measure of renewable energy projects in the hostel.

• During 2003 -2005, compound walls for the Khajamian Hostel,
M.B.A. Hostel with 2 stories, Hospital with 5 beds, STD / ISD Booth
without service charges, separate Prayer Hall, Automation of the
office, Internet Browsing Centre and Bio gas plant were
completed.
• During 2004 - 2005 in the PG New Hostel, 3rd floor of the
Dubai Block, Separate Administrative Block, prayer Hall, Internet
Center and STD Booth were completed.
• During 2005-2006, Hajiani Julekha Haji Abdul Kareem Memorial
Sports Hostel and II Floor in the Mosque Hostel Kilakarai M.K.S.
Mohamed Fathima Memorial Hall were completed.
• During 2006-2007, PG Hostel Auditorium, II & III Floor in
Hajiani Julekha Women Hostel and Khajamian Hostel compound wall
between Samad Higher Secondary School and Arabic College were
completed.
• During 2007-2008 NCC Obstacle Course was constructed in
Khajamian Hostel.
• During 2008-09 New UG Hostel Block is completed, The third
floor in the western side of main Hostel is completed. The internet
lab is completed
• During 2009-10 Islamic Development Bank Hostel Block sponsored
by IDB, Jeddah Rs.(70 lakhs), IDB Hostel Dining Hall and Mariam
Ismail Hall were completed. An additional Bio gas Plant is also
established
• During 2010-11, Kuwait Alumni Block (Second Floor in IDB
Hostel Block), Singapore Alumni Block (Second Floor in IDB Dining
Hall), Chennai Alumni Farook Basha Hall are Constructed in the
Khjaamian Hostel Campus for Men students. Palani Keeranur Janaba
Kulsum Beevi Hall, III Floor in P.G.New Hostel Auditorium, New UGC
Sponsered Women Hostel, UGC Sponsered Indoor Auditorium are
Constructed.

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
• Most of the buildings were constructed out of
thephilanthrophic gesture of well wishers and Alumni.
• The firm linkage between the Alumni Association of Jamal
Mohamed College and its Overseas Chapters in Gulf Countries,
Singapore and Malaysia forms a strong fiscal basis for the

• Scholarship amounting to Rs. 40,00,000 are distributed every
year to meritorious poor students.
• Alumni Association of Jamal Mohamed College, Indian Chapters
are functioning in Chennai, Bangalore and Calicut.

Mumbai, Hyderabad and Delhi.
