What does the Plan show?
The viewer is shown a single view of the Vision and Mission that relates to an Organization Unit and / or an Initiative for a specific period. It provides the approval stage of the plan andthe type of plan. Based on these modelled elements, the plan draws in the relevantobjectives, metrics, business outcomes (aka ideas), capabilities, initiatives and epics.

How is the Plan populated?The view of the plan on the “View” tab is populated according to the selection of a plan from the dropdown list. Once a plan is selected, the view is populated according to the relationships that exist between the selected plan and other strategic elements in the model.
Key model relationships driving the population of the view are as follows:
Related directly to Plan:• Period• Vision• Mission• Organization Unit• Initiative• Stage• Category• Budget
Inferred through the related Organization Unit:• Objectives
Inferred through the related Objectives:• Metrics• Outcomes (aka Ideas)• Capabilities
Inferred through the related Initiative:• Epics (to display on the roadmap)

Plan
What parts of the Plan are configurable?There are three key areas that can be configured in the plan;
1. Period
To create and manage periods in Jalapeno go to the Strategic Planning module of the Model Workbench, and select “Manage periods and milestones”Plan Administration (BETA) > Manage periods and milestones
In the “Model” tab and “Detail” subtab you may create and manage periods that are relevant intervals within your organization.
As part of each period definition, you may wish to create and allocate a start and end milestone. A milestone is an event that serves as a gate for the period.
2. Stage
The values used to identify the approval stage where the plan is at are configurable. To configure stages, go to the Strategic Planning module of the Model Workbench, and select “Create Plans”. Plan Administration (BETA) > Create Plans. Select the tab “Configure Valuesets” and the subtab “Related Valuesets”.Within the collapsible “Stage” section you may create, update and remove stage values and the heat-mappable colors associated with them.

How do I create a plan?To create a plan, go to the Strategic Planning module of the Model Workbench, and select “Create Plans”. Select the “Model” tab above the plan taxonomy.
Select the new plan parent within the taxonomy and using the “Add Plan” button, create a new plan. Enter the plan name, description (optional), period (optional), Organization Unit (optional but drives the related objectives) and Initiative (optional but drives the related roadmap). Click save.
Note that your Objectives will need to be associated to your organization unit through the “Delegated to Role” relationship and Epics will need to be associated to your Initiative through the “Contributes to Improvement” relationship.
Your new plan will now be found within the plan taxonomy and within the selection dropdown on the view plan page.
