On behalf of the Board of Trustees (BOT) and the Executive Committee (EC) we extend our best wishes to you and your family a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year. We pray that Michigan economy and wintry weather will get better. It was a memorable 2009 for our Temple as we had completed 11 years. Two new Patts have given new dimension to our ever beautiful temple. We have planned another exciting schedule of events to cater all age groups for 2010. The temple program schedule is posted at the temple, in this Jain Vani, and can be found on our web site. Please take a moment to review the schedule for 2010. We are always looking for sponsors and volunteers for an event. The beginning of the year was started with the Snatra Puja (1/1). We also had Meru Teras Puja on (1/13) followed by light lunch. Our New Pujari Shri Bhupendrabhai and Smt. Varshaben have left for India after being here for only five days. Based on his insistence to return back to India we respected his wishes and relieved him of his duties of pujari. Currently our member, Sh. Rajnibhai and Jyotsnaben are working as Pujari until we find the replacement. EC has started the new initiative of adding Monthly Snatra Puja on the start of every Sud Ekkam. We believe that retirees/seniors would be able to take advantage of this event. Last year we had to postpone our “24 Hour Navkar Jaap” due to lack of participation. This year Jaap (12 Hour) is on Feb 26. Please sign up online or at the temple bulletin board at the earliest. We definitely do not want to see this important religious event go away from our schedule. Our 17th Annual Fund Raising Dinner is planned for March 13th. Please see more details in this Jainvani. We are looking forward to greatest participation ever for this event. Have you done RSVP yet? We would also like to take this moment to thank all outgoing EC and BOT members for their dedicated service to JSGD and helping all of us during transition phase for our new positions. We are working on our short term and long term goals for the temple. The BOT and EC are committed, focused and ready but they also need your support and commitment to face many challenges that lie in front of us. Thanks & Jai Jinendra! March 13th is the Fundraising Dinner, and JOY will be helping out! Also, 6 of our very own JOY members, Alisha Vora, Ritika Jain, Saloni Jain, Roshni Shah, Kinari Shah and Monisha Shah, will be doing a dance at the dinner, so look forward to that!
February 12th-14th we were supposed to have our annual Winter Camp. Unfortunately, there was a major problem with our house and we will be rescheduling a new date! Sorry for any inconvenience. Please call Anuj Shah at 734-646-0321 with any questions.
Because of the great turn out at Movie Night, JOY and GSY are collaborating once again, and will be hosting a Spring Garba! Details

Quotes for the month:
Do as much good as you can: be as good as you can. But never for a moment feel that you are better than the others!
It is good to know many things, but it is always better to make good use of whatever little we know.
The tongue has the power to hurt. Also to heal. Be careful of every word you speak. It can affect many lives – including your own.
2010 Study Class Schedule – 2010 Study Class Schedule has been distributed to all the students and parents. The dates are listed in the table below as well as posted on the bulletin board. Due to society functions, we will have some classes on 1st and 3rd Sunday – PLEASE MAKE A NOTE. Jain Bucks and Toys for Tots – As you know, students receive Jain Bucks for attending the class and doing their homework. They buy toys for themselves through Jain Buck Store (which is held every 4-6 months). Last time we had the store set up in November and students bought the toys - this time - but not for themselves but for “Toys for Tots”. These toys were then delivered to the proper organization by our JOY group. WE DO APPRECIATE THE THOUGHTS OF SHARING / GIVING BY OUR STUDENTS AND ALSO JOY GROUP. HAITI Earthquake Relief Fund – During January 24th class students and parents opened their hearts and donated for HAITI relief fund drive. Two students – Arihant Jain and Sheily Shah - talked about the earthquake in HAITI and asked all to participate in the fund raising drive. The total collection was $3300 and Jain Society of Greater Detroit contributed $501 for a total of $3800 which was sent to JAINA. Thanks to all the students and parents. Looking for a Job? – Please stop by during one of the study class and talk to us. We are looking for volunteers to join our Study Class Team – Teachers as well as Helpers.
