Jaguar events are kicking into high gear with theJaguar Clubs in Columbus (July 10) & Pittsburgh (July24th) hosting their Concours events. Our JCO Concourswill be held again at Ursuline College in Pepper Pike onAugust 7, 2010, please mark your calendar and makesure to pre-register by July 25,2010.

I have been a bit Jag disengaged as our Jag is “stillin the shop” We (I)I am Jag-less in Medina or moreaccurately going through “Jag Withdrawal”. I have tosay it has been an experience but, am confident theresults will have been worth the effort and wait (and$$$$$)… just kind of wondering about the old boatowner adage where the two best boat owning days are:“The day you buy the boat and the day you sell it!”This may apply to classic cars as well….

Thanks to Mike Meyer for his planning and hosting of the Spring Poker Run. We departed fromStreetsboro and traveled down to The Spread EagleTavern in Hanovertown for a great lunch and visit. TheSpread Eagle Tavern is rapidly becoming a favorite destination of the club, make sure you check out thepics in this issue and plan on attending next year.

Looking forward to seeing members at ourConcours reception on Aug 6th and on the field onAugust 7th. (see info in this issue)

Please note that the Tiffin event scheduled forAugust 28 &29 has been canceled…..I may try to schedule a quick road rally the end of August!!!!

It's what we have been waiting to hear, anew "F" type sports car is a go! This twoseater will be in direct competition with thePorsche Boxster. "We have momentum and anew sports car is coming" It will have plentyof road presence and be instantly recognizable as a Jaguar.

The success of the XF (JLR is finally showing a profit) shows we can compete, butit's only one model and we need more vehicles in the XF family. The XF will beJaguars core value and will provide most ofthe profits and be the sales leader. There is aclear indication that an estate version (that'sa station wagon to us in the colonies) and alow slung coupe are on the way. A heavilycamouflaged estate prototype has been seenaround Jaguar headquarters.

There is big news regarding Jaguars warranty program. A 5/50 warranty, increasing one year.

Just a few rules that reaffirmed from thelast AGM.

Any Jaguar that has prepared for compe-tition must have been prepared by a recog-nized race organization.

Any entrant in the driven class must bedriven to the event if less than 35 years old.

Entrant in any class must be the owner orimmediate family. Dealers or professionalrestorers may register their personal car forjudging however they must be prepared toshow their title and/or registration of owner-ship. (personal note- I will not require birthcertificate.)

Point deduction for mismatched colorbetween body panels.

Point deduction for clear protective bra's.All factory fitted over mats shall be

judged on cleanliness and condition and willbe shown outside the entry and assigneddeduction if missing. ie. VDP wool mats.

NO FOR SALE signs. JJ This is the Jaguar XK 75, anew, hotter, limited editionmodel built to celebrate themarque's 75th anniversary. As the name implies, only 75cars will be built, and they'resuitably tuned - the 5.0-litresupercharged engine now has523bhp and 483lb ft of torque. That means 0-60mph takes4.4sec (down from 4.6sec),while it has a limited topspeed of 174mph.

The handling and suspensionhas been returned to copewith the extra power and givethe car an even sportier edge, while special kits such as asports exhaust, side sill extensions and unique alloysadd to the drama. It also has a revised aeropackage, including a frontsplitter, rear wing and reardiffuser to ensure the carremains stable at high speed.Jaguar says the modificationshave not harmed the XK'scomfort. The car will be officiallyunveiled at the the GoodwoodFestival of Speed on July 2,2010.

Complimentary scheduled maintenance,No cost replacement of wear and tear itemssuch as front and rear brake pads and/ordiscs. Brake fluid change, and windshieldwiper blade inserts. This, to me, shows newconfidence in the quality of the product byJaguar.

You probably have seen some of the newJaguar XJ ads on TV, I wish they would domore advertising of the quality of the Jaguar. That is where we need to reassure the public of our quality and value, that is whatLexus did! Keep the faith, things are looking up.

Jaguar XE small sports car todebut at 2011 Geneva Motor Show

This report comes right on the heels of Jaguar reportedly saying it will produce a version of the F-Type sports car, though it's still unclear if the Geneva-bound XE is a different model altogether. According to Inside Line, the XE will be based on a shortened versionof the next-generation XK architecture. If the concept stays true to most of Jaguar's recent designs, it should be quite eye-catching, as well.

Don’t forget to put Wings and Wire Wheels on your calendar for September 26, 2010 from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M.Then, it’s off to the Neidert’s for theJCO Clambake! Make a day of it!

If you've ever wondered who has the largest private car collectionin the world, wonder no more. Until his death in 2000, Harold E.LeMay had the distinction of laying claim to that title with over3,000 classic vehicles in his possession. His gems included everything from a 1916 Abadal Buick to a 1983 DeLorean DMC 12and pretty much everything in between. Just before LeMay passedaway, he formed a non-profit group with the goal of building amassive museum to house his collection and educate the publicon the impact and evolution of the automobile.

LeMay's vision for the garage to end all garages was no less grandthan his collection – a massive steel and arched glass structuredesigned by Alan Grant of Grant Architects. After a decade offundraising by LeMay's widow and a number of grants from stateand local governments, the LeMay America's Car Museum officially broke ground this week. The project is expected to cost atotal of $100 million when completed, and will feature completeeducational exhibits in addition to showcasing the collection. Formore information on the cars and the museum, be sure to checkout the LeMay Museum site. [Source: The New York Times]

We met at theMcDonald’s inStreetsboro.

The tour was laid out for club members by Mike Meyer. We started in Streetsboro, and followedMike’s directions, watching the sites, until we all ended up at the Spread Eagle Tavern for a wonderful lunch together. “Never a meeting without eating!” - Thanks Mike!

Anunusualco-pilot!

before we closed this staff and servants May discussion. This year, on Father's Day, we will enjoy the company ofmany of our friends, bringing their more unusual automobiles over here to the Manor House. I fear that theremay be so many, that we will just park them on the front lawn, so you, Mick, Jim, and Steven, get some menover here and make it as presentable as it can be. Heavens, it may be the start of a tradition."

And indeed it was, it later became the Stan HywetFather's Day Car Show. Long an automobile gatheringwhere you could show off your car without accumulatingpoints, it became known as a "fun" show for all whoadmired and appreciated cars of any era.

The car show was again this year on Father's Day,June 20 - The Akron Beacon Journal said that there were8,000 spectators and over 400 cars. I haven't been there fora few years, but it hasn't changed much. As a matter offact, this is where I first met Jackie and Jerry Litz drivingtheir blue XJS top down roadster.

Many years ago Jag Club members began meetingat the show and we continued counting it as a great addi-tional place to meet and talk about Jags (and other cars). For 2010, it was the year of the Lincoln!

"Oh yes, there was something I wanted to add

I told my grandson, Max, that a particular Lincoln Continental convertible was identical to the Lincoln that President Kennedy wasassassinated in. There was also a particularly beautiful stainlesssteel-sided convertible from the 30's parked up near the entrance tothe house.

While shooting many pictures of an XK140 coupe I commented toan elderly lady who was watching that I thought she would lookattractive in the 140, she looked at me and said she'd better, it washer car!!

Again, the Stan Hywet show did not disappoint in theleast. A perfect summer day!

JCO Does It AgainIt was a beautiful spring fling. Our spring tour had

sunny weather and convertible tops quickly came down. What a great way to start JCO's summer events. Thirtysome members enjoyed the ride and the scenic stops alongthe way where we drew playing cards hoping we wouldhave the winning poker hand at the conclusion of the tour.Once again we ended our tour at the rustic and historicalSpread Eagle Tavern in Hanoverton. Congradulations to AvaSingerman and Bob Palmer who had the winning hand. Abonus was seeing Bob Palmer who as many of you members might know is undergoing cancer treatments now.It must have been a real treat for him to get out and hechose to spend it with us. Continuing good luck with your treatments Bob. When we arrived at the tavern there weresigns posted in our parking area "car show today". Themany patrons enjoyed the line up of Jaguars and of coursewe love showing them off. A good meal and a lot of friendly chatter made it another good day for JCO. We dohave fun don't we? JJ

ALL X TYPESThis is very important for all X Type

owners to pay particular attention to.Have your wheel lug nuts checked! If you try to check their tightness, you may findout that you will not be able to remove all ofthem with the wrench that is supplied in thetool kit. You may have to have a garageremove them with an impact wrench, or in aworse case scenario, have one or more breakoff and then drilled out to remove the wheel.

We see on an average of 1 out of 2 cars thathave rusted lug nuts. Particularly the fronts. You must make sure that the wheel studs &nuts are generously lubricated with an antiseize paste like "Neverseize".

What happens is if a nut is rusted to it's stud, the decorative outer cap of the nut will weakenand spin off with the force of the socket. Thenthe nut itself will start to round off (with a smallersocket) & eventually either round off so muchthat you can no longer put a socket on the nut,or it will snap at the collar. At that point you willnot be able to remove the wheel until the nut iscut off with a hole saw then the stud will haveto be removed for a new one.

God forbid you should encounter this on theroad after a flat tire, & you find out you can'tremove the wheel. Have these checked soon!Average price to replace the broken nut &

new stud, $200.00 to $300.00.A little grease and regular service...Priceless!
