YAGUARA YES President’s Arcle by Janet Marn—Mar-Apr 2019

For the Love of the Big Cat

I first experienced a Jaguar some 30 years ago in my late 20s. Li=le did I know that one day I would

have a love hate relaonship with one of my own. One of my colleagues brother came and picked us

up for lunch in his Jag – I remember the sleek lines and the tan leather and of course the leaper on

the hood. Seven years ago, I encountered the big powerful cat once again and this me it came

home with me – a 1990 XJS V-12 Converble. I am the 3rd

owner and actually have the original win-

dow tag with the price. I bought it from my sisters neighbor in Marie=a, GA. My first road trip was to

Cha=anooga, TN to a friends wedding. Then I drove it to my 30 yr high school reunion. I remember

feeling so cool driving up in my Jag unl I got ready to leave and the thing wouldn’t start due to a

dead ba=ery!! So a new expensive ba=ery and then it was me to bring my big cat home to Texas.

Road Trip!!! Talk about a head turner – young and old would come up to me when I would stop for

gas or a rest stop to admire and ask about it. Later, I would come to realize what a MIRACLE it was

that I even made it home to Texas.

When I got it here, I took it in for service and

wound up puGng almost twice into it than what

I paid for it. Oh well, my big purr baby is a keep-

er. Just when I think I’m going to get rid of it –

there’s a beauful day and I put the topdown

and take a drive through the hill country. Guess

I’ll keep her a li=le while longer. LOL. She is

definitely a cool weather cat and hates south

Texas summer heat. The AC doesn’t work, half

the me. If I go somewhere in the warmer

months I have to wait for the engine to cool

down or she won’t start. Something ALWAYS

seems to going wrong and needs replacing or fixing, grumble, grumble. I remember in the very be-

ginning Victor told me I’d never get out of her what I put into her. I thought about it and said I didn’t

care go ahead and fix it that she was a keeper. Then he told me a story about one of his fine cats, not

Chewy but his classy cat that someone could offer him a Ferrari or other high end car but that he

would turn them down because she was a keeper. I knew how he felt. Besides I can’t get rid of my

XJS – Mr. Wilson my Dachshund LOVEs riding in it with the top down!

What was your first Jaguar? Here ki=y, ki=y.

Janet in her Jag cruising down a hill country road…

a match made in heaven!
