Year 3Mind [The] Gap
The project seeked to create places and environments to stimulate groundbreaking and radical thinking by ‘researchers’. The programme speculated that these spaces might actually best be located alongside, or perhaps in the heard of linked public provision.

Mind [The] Gap
The writing spaces’ arrangement, flexibility & quality of light were critical to their functioning effectively
Year 3Timber Tectonics Project
Project to design a temporary pavilion within Jesmond Dene, Newcastle. The pavilion had to accommodate a gallery space for displaying artwork and performance space for an outdoor theatre company.
Cluster of ‘gallery pods’. The functions of the single ‘pavilion’ were instead split into several spaces on site
Timber Tectonics Project
Timber Tectonics Project
Typical ‘gallery pod’. These are lockable to protect the artwork with an ETFE oculus to provide extra light
Timber Tectonics Project
The ‘picnic pod’ acts as a bandstand style gathering place with 360o open sided views and a wicker roof above
Timber Tectonics Project
The structure of the pods was fully resolved as part of the project and the 1:20 & 1:2 models demonstrate this
Year 2Sculpture Park
You have been commissioned by Newcastle City Council to locate and design a Sculpture Park to display a collection of artworks donated to the council by a wealthy benefactor. The Council’s preferred site is on Hunter’s Moor in Spital Tongues.
Internal view from cafe / visitor centre building
Sculpture Park
Site analysis strongly dictated the concept, position of the sculptures & arrangement of the spaces

“The aim is to create an environment that is protective, homely and therapeutic” - Paul Yeomans, Director
View from access road at top of site
Site Plan
Medical Architecture
The project concept was of water flowing through the site. - inspired by the historic pump house nearby
Typical ward block arrangement
Medical Architecture
The project was heavily reliant on BIM technologies with 3D model co-ordination between consultants
