Todays Game: The Generals continue a five-game homestand with
their second game against the Biloxi Shuckers (Milwaukee
Brewers)...Jackson opened the series with an 8-3 win that knocked
Biloxi out of first place in the Southern Division...Southpaw
Misael Siverio makes his first home start since earning a victory
over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos on May 2...The Villa Clara, Cuba
native will square off with Shuckers right-hander Tyler Wagner, who
shares a Southern League-high four victories with four other
pitchers, including Biloxis Brooks Hall.
Versus Biloxi: Jackson won the first meeting ever between these
clubs, taking a quick 1-0 series lead...The Generals and the
Shuckers are scheduled for 15 games in this years season
series...The Shuckers will host the Generals for five games from
July 28 through August 1...Jackson hosts this current five-game
series as well as another five-game set in late August...Last
seasons series between Jackson and the Huntsville Stars -- Biloxis
predecessor -- ended with the Generals earning a slim 13-12
edge.
21 - Hit Me: An RBI triple in third inning of Mondays contest
gave Dario Pizzano a 21-game hitting streak, setting a new
franchise record...Pizzano broke a brief tie with 2007 West Tenn
Diamond Jaxx hitter Jeff Frazier, who had a 20-game streak from
April 22 to May 14...Pizzanos active hitting streak is also the
best stretch for any player in all of affiliated baseball (MLB and
MiLB) this season and the best mark of his professional
career...Over his past 21 games, Pizzano is batting .419
(36-for-86) with a home run, three triples and five doubles...He
has also hit safely in 23 of his 24 appearances this season with a
team-high 12 multi-hit efforts...The only game when Pizzano was
held hitless was Jacksons rain-shortened 0-0 tie game at the
Jacksonville Suns on April 13...Pizzano was 0-for-2 and was
scheduled to lead off the eighth inning before rain stopped the
contest in the seventh.
Power Ball: For the first time this season, Jackson has hit at
least one home run in three straight games...This streak started in
Chattanooga on Saturday, May 9 when Tyler Smith crushed a three-run
homer in the seventh inning against the Lookouts. Jabari Blash
added a solo blast on Sunday, giving the Generals their first
string of back-to-back games with a homer. On Monday against the
Shuckers, Jordy Laras second-inning solo shot to left-center and
Jack Reinheimers two-run clout to left field marked Jacksons fourth
multi-homer game of 2015.
Smith Earns SL Honor: Tyler Smith was named the Southern League
Player of the Week on Mon-day...After returning to Jacksons active
roster last Monday, Smith went 10-for-22 (.455) with four doubles
and his first home run to earn the weekly honor...Smith has hit
safely in each of his seven games played since coming off the
disabled list, picking up an overall eight-game hitting steak and
11-game on-base streak in the process...He also leads the Southern
League in on-base percentage (.474) and has drawn a team-high 15
walks over 18 games.
Its Good To Be (Related to) The King: Moises Hernandez and his
younger brother, Seattle Mariners ace Felix Hernandez, both had
notable achievements during the past week...Moises, who is in his
fifth season in the Mariners organization, moved into second in
franchise history for career pitching appearances...He made his
134th appearance for the Generals in Chattanooga on Friday, posting
three scoreless innings of relief during a 4-2 loss...Felix became
the fourth-youngest pitcher to record 2,000 career strikeouts,
fanning Sam Fuld for the milestone punchout in a 4-3 victory on
Sunday against the Oakland Athletics.
Shuckers Bring Road Show to Jackson: The Biloxi Shuckers era
continues its opening act with an ongoing 55-game road stretch to
start the 2015 season...Construction continues on Biloxis MGM Park,
which is not scheduled to host the Shuckers until Saturday, June 6
against the Mobile BayBears...All scheduled Shuckers home contests
prior to June 6 have either been hosted by their opponents
(home-away-from-home games) or at Huntsvilles Joe Davis Stadium,
the former ballpark of the Huntsville Stars.

Gillheeneys 5.1 innings pitched in relief allowed Jackson to earn
an 8-3 victory in the series opener against Biloxi...Gillheeney
entered in a 2-2 game with runners at the corners in the third,
inducing an inning-ending fly out...Jackson took the lead for good
in the bottom of the third with Dario Pizzanos RBI triple...That
base hit gave Pizzano a 21-game hit streak, setting a new franchise
record...Jordy Lara and Jack Reinheimer went deep in Jacksons
victory, giving the Generals their season-best third consecutive
game with at least one home run.
