Todays Game: Jackson looks to avoid its third series loss of
2015 in the third game of this series against the Biscuits...The
Generals are looking to snap a season-long four-game losing skid
that has put the team 5.5 games back in the North Division...After
losing six games in a row, the Biscuits have won eight of their
last 10 games to move into second place in the North...Montgomery
ranks second in the Southern League in hits (148) and home runs
(15).
Versus Montgomery: This is the third of 20 regular season
meetings between the Generals and Biscuits this season. Montgomery
has won the first two matchups by a combined four runs...With
Biloxi (formerly Huntsville) moving to the South Division,
Montgomery is a part of the North Division with Jackson in
2015.These teams were members of the same division for one season
in 2004 when the Southern League was divided East and West. That
was they year the Orlando Rays moved to Alabamas capital...The
Biscuits travel to Jackson at the end of May, and the teams play a
pair of series in the Second Half as well.
Its-A Me, Dario: Jackson outfielder Dario Pizzano, who
celebrated his 24th birthday Saturday, has hit in eight-straight
games. It is the longest stretch of any General in 2015...Pizzano
went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and his first home run of the season on
Wednesday, one of just three three-hit efforts for a Jackson player
this season. During the streak, Pizzano is hitting .375 (12-for-23)
with a home run, a double, a triple, three RBIs and five runs
scored. Pizzano now ranks sixth in the Southern League with a .375
average and seventh with an OPS of .918.
Road Woes: Jacksons 3-2 loss on Sunday was the teams fifth in a
row away from The Ballpark at Jackson. The Generals are 1-5 on the
road this season, with the teams lone away win coming in their
first game of the season on April 9 in Jacksonville (2-0). Jackson
lost their next three games at Bragan Field before the series
finale was called in the seventh inning due to rain. The team is
hitting just .183 on the road compared to a .223 mark at home. None
of the three teams three home runs have come in their seven road
games, and they have scored only 11 runs in those contests.
Making Miscues: The Generals made a combined nine errors over
their past four games, all of which have been losses. Jackson had
made just six miscues defensively in the teams first 11 games, but
the team made four errors April 22 at Tennessee and on Saturday in
Montgomery. Four of the teams eight unearned runs allowed have come
over these past four games, and Jacksons 15 errors are the third
most of any Southern League team.
Dont Call it a Comeback: Three of Jacksons four wins have been
of the comeback variety, including both in the teams most recent
series against the Smokies. Tennessee led Mondays opener 1-0 before
Jackson answered with seven runs over its final two at bats. On
Tuesday, the Generals erased a 3-1 deficit with a two-run seventh
inning before taking the lead in the eighth with Dan Paolinis
decisive two-run double.
Up to Speed: Jackson has been one of the Southern Leagues best
teams on the bases, swiping 15 bags while being caught just twice.
The Generals 15 steals are tied for third in the circuit, and their
88% success rate is tops in the league. Individually, infielder
Jack Reinheimer shares sixth place in the league with four stolen
bases.
Power Outage: Jacksons three home runs thus far in 2015 are the
fewest among Southern League teams. Thats a surprise considering
what many of these players did in 2014. The team features four
hitters that surpassed 15 long balls: Gabriel Guerrero (18), Jordy
Lara (26), Jabari Henry (30) and D.J. Peterson (31). Guerrero and
Lara were two of just seven minor league players to hit .300 with
90 runs scored, 45 extra-base hits and 90 runs batted in, while
Peterson was one of five to hit 30 home runs while driving in more
than 100.

Montgomery 3-2...The loss was the fourth in a row for the
Generals...Down 3-0, the Generals scored a run in the eighth inning
on a Steve Baron double and an RBI single for Zach Shank...They
rallied again with two outs in the ninth, scoring on a Dario
Pizzano triple and a passed ball. With the tying run on first, Dan
Paolini flied out to end the game...Misael Siverio (6 IP, 2 H, 2 R,
1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K) took the loss despite giving the Generals their
second quality start of 205...Austin Pruitt gave up just a run in
eight innings for the Biscuits.
