I am sure you will have seen some changes at Jackalberry during your last visit. Here is an update on happenings in and around your favourite place in the bush. These are just some of the new additions at Jackalberry - the Reception area where you are welcomed and all paperwork taken care of and some more parking has been added. The old reception area is now a lounge with free Wi-Fi for you to do a quick log-on, let friends know what a great holiday you’re having or post that photo on our Facebook page. The communal pool has been redone pool - very inviting on a hot day, we added a big chess set for some fun, while stimulating the grey matter, then there is a new trampoline for the kids to burn o that excess energy – they love it.

A WARM BUSHVELDGREETING TO ALL.

We invested in a re-ghting trailer for added security during the re season. While at Jackalberry, it is essential that you familiarise yourself with the rules and the emer-gency and evacuation plan, we want to make sure you stay safe, so you can tell all you family and friend about your “lekker” holiday. If you do happen to have an emer-gency, call Reception where all the emergency numbers for the area are to hand. For the smaller stu, just ask, we are more than happy to help jump start your car or change that at tyre. Then there is the normal repairs and maintenance that we try to stay on top of. If you experi-ence an unforeseen problem while on your visit, please report it to Reception immediately so we can attend to it. We also appreciate your comments and suggestions to improve Jackalberry. The added hand railing on the staircase, to make the trip up or down a bit more stable, was as a result of a suggestion by some owners. We are also working on a solution with regard to the downstairs bathroom. A new unit layout is planned to create an en-suite bathroom, so look out for this development that will go hand in hand with future tent replacements.

SAFETY FIRST

Our new planned camping sites will soon give you the option to bring your camping trailer or caravan around to spend some extra time with us here in the bush. We will keep you posted on when to start planning a trip.

EVENTS

You may have heard about the possible granting of a prospecting licence to mine iron ore in our area, or even signed a petition objecting to this. Reports say it is for ve sites in the area around Marlothpark, although some private test shows it would not be protable, we will wait and see what happens in the end. The mining will not aect us directly, but may impact on us indirectly. This is being attended to on several fronts and will keep you posted on any developments.

There is an old age home development planned for Marlothpark. So when retirement time comes around, why not consider becoming a close neighbour of ours and come live here in the bush.

The Board of Directors have met and approved a levy increase of 8.5% year on year. The board deliberated the budget as proposed by managementafter careful considera-tion of each expenditure line item.

On the wild life and environment side, the rst rains fell in mid-October and the veld is now starting to look a lot better. The other day, the Diedricks cuckoos and Piet-my-vroue could be heard calling. Now we only need the woodland kingshers to return for me to happily say summer is ocially here. We have already seen some of the rst warthog piglets running and jumping around and by mid- November it will be time for the impalas to be born.

Until the next time we see you at Jackalberry,
