I n s P I R At I O nLeaves slowly fall as you stroll down a wooded footpath.

The sounds and colours of autumn awake the senses.

Puffs of wind blow through the trees, intensifying

a light chill in the air. A patchwork of mossy greens,

burnt oranges and myriad shades of brown create

an impressionist atmosphere. This is the inspiration

for J SHoeS Autumn/Winter 2013 collection.

C R A F t s m A n s H I Peach pair of our shoes pays homage to a bygone era—a time

when handmade shoes were the standard. In this mass-

produced, ‘I need it yesterday’ world, J SHoeS takes the

time to design, engineer and handcraft shoes that please the

eye and comfort the soul.

J SHoeS is committed to the philosophy of continual

improvement. We strive to make every pair of shoes better

than the last. each stage of the manufacturing process

is meticulously planned by our development team and

supported by hours of thorough research. extensive testing

and trials go in to perfecting our uppers and handmade sole

units. our leathers and fabrics are sourced around the globe,

selected for their one-of-a-kind colours and textures—all of

which contribute to the originality of each pair of our shoes.

the detailed hand work that is done by our skilled craftsman.

C u t t I n G

Cutting the upper. The upper patterns are placed on top of the leather with one hand, the other hand cuts

the leather using a knife following the shape of the pattern. These will be reduced, receive reinforcements

and be stitched together to form the shoe uppers.

P e R F e C t I n G m A t e R I A l s

one stage of perfecting materials—reducing the thickness of the leather edges so all visible edges of the shoe

upper have the exact same thickness.

s t I t C H I n G

Stitching the upper to the lining—this takes very skilled and coordinated hands & eyes to ensure the

distance between the stitching line and the upper edges are maintained throughout every pair.

Pre-buffing the edges of a handmade outsole—this highly skilled free-hand operation requires the

craftsman to stop when the sand paper touches the welt, if the sand paper digs into the welt the

whole sole is lost.

F I n I s H I n G

Heat setting the shoe upper—this ensures the upper is molded onto the shape of the shoe last. These will

go through a cold tunnel to “set” the uppers and move on to the burnishing station.

Leather stacked heels, hand-crafted rubber

and leather soles, embossed resin soles and

solid beech wood heels gives a premium feel

to stylish comfortable shoes, short, mid-cut

and tall boots. Side-zips, lace-ups and pull-

ups are designed with the season’s rich,

vibrant colours.
