The Joyful Noise Newsletter Schoeneck Moravian Church
Based on the recommendations from our state and county leaders as well as the Provincial Elders Conference of the Moravian Church, the Joint Board has decided to extend the closure of the church building and cancellation of all in-person worship and activities until further notice. The Board believes this to be the best thing we can do to continue to protect the health of our members and community.
We will continue to make Sunday worship services available online through Facebook Live and YouTube.
Until May 12, Moravian pastors will be on call for Schoeneck members. In the case of emergencies, please contact the church office at 610-759-0376 and leave a message or email [email protected] and someone will get back to you as soon as possible. Our administrative assistant continues to work from home at this time. You can also contact an Elder if you have a concern.
Let us continue to keep our community in prayer, particularly those in the health care profession, frontline workers, and those who are sick or struggling, as we look to the Great Shepherd of the sheep for hope and strength.
God bless you all, Schoeneck Joint Board
Dear Schoeneck Members,
As the COVID-19 virus continues to keep many of us home and out of work, Schoeneck is wondering what we can do to help. If you or a member you know is struggling, please let us know by calling the church office at 610-759-0376. God teaches us to love one another and in these uncertain times, let's work together to do what we can to care for each other.

SUNDAYS MAY 3 AND MAY 10
While the pastors are away on leave for their baby, we will welcome Debra Charles, one of our own members, to lead us in worship on May 3 and May 10. Deb is studying to become a lay minister through the Crossroads Program at Moravian Theological Seminary. We thank Deb for her gifts of service and for bringing us the message!
ASCENSION SUNDAY On Sunday, May 24, we will remember how our Lord, after spending forty days with His disciples following the Resurrection, ascended to Heaven to return to the glory He had with the Father before the world began (John 17:5). Our faith declares that just as Jesus was seen going into heaven, He will come again in the same way on the clouds of Heaven. This Sunday is also the Sunday closest to Memorial Day. We will take time during worship to recognize those who have died serving our country in the armed forces, giving thanks for the sacrifices they have made.
PENTECOST SUNDAY On Sunday, May 31, we will remember the glorious gift of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. It is the Holy Spirit Who gave birth to the church, giving disciples gifts and power to proclaim Jesus’ message of salvation to the world. For anyone who would receive Him and believe in His name, to this day, Jesus gives that person the right to become a child of God (John 1:12).

He will be away from April 20-May 11 and will return to the office on May 12. Sanette will be on maternity leave for twelve weeks from April 20-July 13 and will return to the office on July 14. While they are on paternal and maternal leave, they will not be available for phone calls and emails. In the case of emergencies, please contact the church office. Moravian pastors will be on call for emergencies or you may contact an Elder if you have a concern.
A couple of weeks ago there was a front page headline that read "Churches reeling as coronavirus hits collection plates".
My immediate thought was how thankful I am that Schoeneck is not in that position. Through the faithful giving of our members, Schoeneck has been able to continue paying our monthly bills as they come in. I'll admit I was a little worried when Schoeneck had to close it's doors, thinking that we would get far behind with our loan payments, pastor's salaries and pension payments and bills such as electric and water.
2 Corinthians 9:8 says "And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work." How true this is. Yes, we've been able to pay our bills, but beyond that, we've done much more. Through the use of technology our services have been shared online to Schoeneck members as well as others looking for a place to hear the word of God. Who knows how many people we've been able to reach. Instead of being worried, I should have known that God will provide. Katie Elliott Trustee President
