International Women’s Day  International Women's Day (IWD), originally called International Working Women’s Day, is marked on March 8 every year. In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women's economic, political and social achievements. Started as a Socialist political event, the holiday blended in the culture of many countries. International Women Day is also celebrated in Pakistan every year. Women are playing an important role in Development of Pakistan as they are working side besides the men. Whenever there is financial crisis in hous ehold then women don’t hesitate to work with their men. For the appreciation of their hardworking and love being wife, affection being mother, care being sister international women’s day is celebrated every year. PRSP-CACL-II Project deals mostly with the mothers of NFE & ALC Learners as mothers have more influence on children. So PRSP also celebrated International Women’s Day here in office at March 8, 2012. Guests were invited for the ceremony. Ceremony is started with the name of Almighty Allah and Naat. Mr. Niaz Hussain RGM-PRSP was requested to give the welcome speech. He said we must have a glance at what is going on with the women in our society. He said women counts for approximately 50% of the population. So their rights must not be ignored. He said while we are talking about rights of women then we should also talk about the duties of the women. He said we all know about the status of the women before the advent of Islam. He said Islam gave the rights to the women and took place at the equilibrium in comparison. He here gave the example of the Hadis regarding rights and duties of the women. He said we all know about the status and condition with the women as their face are being burn by acids, they are being hearted, is only due to because we have ignore the teaching of Islam. He said we are responsible for the injustice with the women.

Then Mr. Alamdar Shah Sb. (DO-Social Welfare) talked on

this event. He said women is playing role in development of 

the society and economy. He said we all should have to give

equal rights to the women. He said women being mothers

spread their affection. He said just what we have to do for

making justice in men and women we must follow the

preaching of Islam. He said if you want to know about the culture and society of a region the

women status is key indicator there to check whether that society is well civilized or not. He said

slaved women give birth to slave and educated women give birth to leader.

Ms. Farzana Zahid was requested to say some words. She told

about her story. She said that a couple of years ago she was

nothing. But when she started PRSP ALC centre then she got

the way to earn her livelihood and hence became helping

hands of her husband. She said now after two years now I am

running my own vocational school and a private school is also

being started by me. She thanked PRSP for giving her a new path and helped her for becoming

independent woman.

Ms. Nazia Arshad was requested to say something. She said

that a woman should be educated as man. She said woman

should also be vocationally trained because these skills can be

utilized at any stage of life and to earn livelihood. She said I

started my careers as teacher in NCHD programme the PRSP

selected my as teacher for school and vocational training. Now I am earning my honored

livelihood an she thanked PRSP.

Mr. Abdul Mateen Janjua (PO-ILO) were requested for thisoccasion to say some words to participants. He said I am

thankful to PRSP who made these women developed. He

said its not only the duty of PRSP to empower women rather

it’s a duty of all of us. He said PRSP make a mark fo r this

work. He said women can do the all things but there is some hesitation among them so we just

have to show the path and have to encourage them. he said by empowering women we will be

able to remove child labour not only from this district but from this country. He said we must all

hold the hand of atleast one uneducated woman.

Ms. Nazia Sadaf started from the words of Nepolian, “give

me educated women I will give you an educated nation”.

She said all the duties and rights are not for women. She

said male should be cooperative. She said male and female

are the two wheels of vehicle which we called life. And life

will be successful in achieving its goals if both wheels will

be in same line. She said I belongs to an area where

education for girls is not considered well even this situation was in my family. But my parents

cooperate each other and they taught us. We all are now educated and no one have any point to

object rather they appreciate us.

Ms. Sobia Parveen said that woman can do any thins as Mateen Sb, said. She said that if a

woman can run her home very well and can manage the budget of her home then it’s not difficult

for her to manage a business. She can also run a business and

her home as well because woman is good managers. She said I

am a teacher by profession and used to teach in two schools

and despite of that I manage my domestic responsibilities very

well. So all women should muster up courage to become

independent and work for the development o the country.

Mrs. Nasreen Awan said all women should come in action. She said a woman is whole life as it

is important element of life. She said mother of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani was not educated but

she taught the lessons to him that becomes useful in his life.So a woman whether educated or not can make her children

educated and civilized. She said male dominant society is

  just formed by the women themselves. She said whenever

women start doing work then it’s a normal perception what

will people say what will community say. She said only women are responsible. She said I

belong to same society but when my husband has lost the capacity to earn I enter in the field to

manage all the things. She said people said to me what I am doing. They opposed me but I didn’t

lose my courage and continuously made my efforts. Now Almighty Allah honored me in a way

that a few years ago I have been nominated for the noble prize for working women. Now I am

running my own social institution. So nothing is impossible only perception and thinking must

be positive and productive.

Mr. Muzaffar Iqbal Khattak (PM-CACL-II) was requested to

say something at this occasion and give thanking note to

guests and participants. He said I am very thankful to all

honorable guests for participating in this event. He said

woman is a main part of the life. Being mother her affection

and love is not express able in words. He described the status

of women and compared it with today’s world. He said we should not treat the women with curse

because Allah gave the honor to woman as she has paradise beneath her foot being mother.
