• Road infrastructure is excellent.

• The MyCiTi bus, a public bus service operates across the main areas of the city.

• A train service operates across the main areas of the city; however, this is predominantly focused on commuter transport.

• Metered taxis are freely available but ideally you should call ahead to book and use only registered services.

• Private taxis can be booked through Cape Town Tourism.

• Minibus taxis offer convenient but sometimes hair- raising transport along major routes. They are frequently available and inexpensive

• All major car-hire companies operate from the airport and have city depots.

The safety and security of visitors to Cape Town is vitally important to Cape Town Tourism, thus we have a number of programmes in place and are in close contact with all the major safety and security providers across the city.

• Practical safety tips, key security procedures and contact numbers are available at all Cape Town Tourism Visitor information Centers, on our website, Visitors Guides and maps.

• Safety numbers should be kept on hand, such as the emergency hotline, South African Police and National Park emergencies numbers.

• Cape Town Tourism and Protection and Emergency Services run a Visitor Support Programme to assist you, should you be involved in an incident.
