About the It Takes Two to Talk®Program
It Takes Two to Talk is a program for parents ofchildren (birth
to 5) who have language delays.
It Takes Two to Talk recognizes:
! the importance of involving parents intheir child’s early
language intervention
! the need to help children and familiesas early as possible in
a child’s life
This evidence-based program, which wasdeveloped by The Hanen
Centre, is well-known around the world. Studies on theIt Takes Two
to Talk Program have shown thatit is effective and that, when
parents learn touse the program’s strategies, their
children’scommunication skills improve.
It Takes Two to Talk is led by a Hanen CertifiedSpeech-Language
Pathologist/Therapist whohas received specialized training from
TheHanen Centre.

a Hanen Certified Speech-LanguagePathologist/Therapist before
the programbegins
! A series of informative and personal classesfor small groups
of parents
! Three individual consultations withyour Hanen Certified

2. Follow Your Child’s LeadYou’ll learn how to respond
immediatelyto what your child tells you in ways thathelp him learn
language. When youfollow your child’s lead, you build hisconfidence
and encourage evenmore communication.
4. Add Language tothe InteractionYou’ll learn how to add words
to theinteraction to help your child expresshimself and learn about
the world. You’llalso learn how to highlight words to makeit easier
for your child to learn andremember them.
3. Take Turns to Keep theInteraction GoingYou’ll learn how to
take turns back andforth and have simple conversations withyour
child. You’ll also learn how to adjusteveryday routines that you
and your childalready enjoy to create more opportunitiesfor
