Lancaster City Housing Authority’s core mission is to provide a� ordable housing to income-eligible renters within the City of Lancaster. They do this through HUD’s Housing Choice Voucher Program, formerly known as Section 8 and by owning and operating rental 564 properties under HUD’s Public Housing Program. The combined programs have over 1,572 rental units.
Executive Director Robert “Bob” Schellhamer oversees a sta� of 35, 14 of which are full time maintenance sta� . The most visible of the LCHA properties are Church Street Towers and Farnum Street East in downtown Lancaster.
About a year ago Bob realized he was faced with a unique technology issue, retirement. Bill, his technology support manager of 28 years was due to retire. Not only had they become good friends but the prospect of moving into the future without Bill was a daunting thought.
Bob picks up the story here, “We took on EZSolution in a rather minimal role from January through June, just to test drive each other. Were we going to love EZSolution and how were they going to feel about us? That introductory period went very well. We decided to hire EZSolution. It was, no pun intended, an “EZ” choice.
It was nice to have that month for Bill to do this brain dump and for the EZSolution sta� . On that day when Bill left, truthfully rather than me being terri� ed, other than missing him very much because he’s a dear friend, it was not a concern. I already felt as though we were in this nice routine with EZSolution sta� being here twice a week and I had con� dence that we would get a very quick response if we needed to.
The � rst thing that impressed me was the transition. The second was that I now have a � rm working with me that is absolutely current. EZSolution is not chasing the technology but running ahead of it, they are right there with it in real time.
EZSolution knew what to do with my virtual servers. They knew what they lacked and what the next upgrade would be. We’re doing the next round of system and server upgrades that I think will position us beautifully for years, literally.
What they’ve done for us technologically is help position us to transition to a very high level of e� ciency and operation. In terms of e� ciency, in terms of redundancy, in terms of a safe and e� ective backup, EZSolution is going to be able to position us beautifully for quite a few years. That’s huge for me. I feel I get great value from EZSolution.
