~~ The Name 0 the church is idway.. '.l.'his church is located approx
mately three miles east of the ouglasville town city limits. It is
located on 8 state highway o. 92, which is a dirt road leading from
oug asville, a. to. Atlanta. It is in the open country.
This church is rather old and its membership rather scattered
geograpically. The parish boundaries, however, extend about six miles
south of the church, three miles northward, and approximately two miles
to the east and west respectively; Qowever a great number of the mem
bers fall even further outside this boundary.
The community surrounding the church is over-lapped with other
communities and also several Baptist churches.
The physical church is situated in approximately the center of
the property which is owned by the church. This consistes of an acre of
grounA. It is two acres in length and 2 acre wide.Th s property is bor
dered by woods with a steep ecline on the eastern boundary.
The building, which is a weather-boarded exterior and a sheet
rock interior, is now in very good condition•• This was accomplished
by a complete remodeling which was one in 1947-48. A new roof was
placed on the church this year. The seating capacity of the church is
160. More space can be made available by using the two ajacent church
schoo rooms. The chu:chh is gas heated. ,.e feel that the inside of
our santuary is one of beauty. A new pulpit, new alter, new pulpit
furniture, nd new pews make the church most comfortabee and most
attractive. We have only one piano.
Connecte to the church santuary is the SUnday-School annex. This
annex has three rooms and a kitchen. These rooms are used by the chil
dren'a and the youth departments. ~llding doors make it possible to
convert this area into one large room for recreational purposes. It
is also used in this way as an assembly room and as a dining room.
The kitchen is well furnished with electric stove and dishes.

This church has ever been a pa n in the hands of the cabinet and
conference. t has been move so often from one district 0 another and
from one harge to another that sometimes the people ho as supposed

Stewards, said that for one or two quarters one minister fai1e to
preach in the church. .hen asked by the presi ing e der hy he had not
been to 1~dw8Y his repl :as that he did not know that it be10ngeg to
his circuit. tie had seven churches that year.
~nday Schools have been organized and d·ed. It was about 1942
that the present sunday school was organized and it was destined tm last.
~his school at the present is rather strong and ia growing.
uuring the 1930's this church had one of the largest Epworth
Leagues in the district. local ~reacher on the work, who during that
period was president of the league, told me that it was not the least
unusual to have between 100 and 150 boys ahd girls present. ~his was
during the pastorate of the Rev. red Gwin. ~he constant change in
ministers and the curtailing of services caused the collespe of this
movement. It has been reorgan zed under capable counselors this year
and our attendance has not droppe under 20 a d has reached 44. ,e
won the attendance banner at the Marvin ~ 1 iams ~ua-District meeting
the first time it was offered.

he church budget last year was Eroudd ~800.00. This year they
