ACCOPPIAMENTOELETTRICO
COLLEGAMENTO AVVOLGIMENTISono previsti entrambi i collegamenti, stellacon neutro ( Y ) e triangolo ( ∆ ) in tutti glialternatori (tav. 2 pag.

ELECTRICALCONNECTIONS
All electrical output connections are theresponsibility of, and are at the discretion of,the end user. When making terminal box connections, allcable and terminal lugs should meet therelevant standards of the country of finaldestination.
WINDINGS CONNECTIONAll alternators feature both star with neutral(Y) and delta ( D ) connections (table. 2pag.45) .To reconnect from a star to delta connection(for ex. from 400V to 230V), modify the linkingarrangements on the output terminal board(see diagram on table 2 page 45).It is not necessary to adjust the voltageregulator.Standard alternators are equipped with 12cables to offer different voltages (ex.230 / 400/ 460 / 800V).The alternator must always be earthed bysufficiently rated cable, using one of theinside or outside terminals. After completing output connections (fortightening torque see tab. 19 pag. 54),ensure that the terminal box cover is securelyin place.
IMPORTANT: frequency variations.A standard production machine wound for 50Hz can also function at 60 Hz (and viceversa) by resetting the A.V.R. voltagepotentiometer to the new nominal voltagevalue. When changing from 50 to 60 Hz thealternator power, and nominal voltage willincrease by 20%, but the current does notchange from 50 Hz value. Should voltagestay at 50 Hz nominal value, then the outputpower may be increased by 5% due toimproved ventilation. For machines wound for 60 Hz, changing to50 Hz, the voltage and power values have todecrease by 20% of 60 Hz value.
REGULATORS (table. 3 pag 45)Either UVR and SR7 regulators can be usedon the EC - ECO series without affectingperformances. The UVR is a standard feature on the 34-37-40-43 models whereas the SR7 is standardon the 28-31-32 series. The two regulators ensure the same level ofperformance but have different signalsystems and references.

ELECTRICALCONNECTIONS
IMPORTANT :the generator output voltage must bechecked under no-load conditions, with thecorrect setting of frequency.
The voltage may be adjusted by ± 5% of thenominal, by acting upon the voltagepotenziometer on the electronic regulators.
By connecting a 100 KΩ potentiometeracross the relevant terminals, it is possible tohave a remote voltage regulation of ± 5% ofnominal voltage.
PROTECTIONSUVR - SR7Both regulators are provided with anunderspeed protection with an interventionthreshold which can be adjusted by thepotentiometer marked “Hz”. This protectionintervenes instantaneously by reducing thealternator voltage to a safe value whenfrequency falls below 10% of the nominalvalue. These regulators also have inherentoverload protection which senses the exciterfield voltage value. Should this field voltagevalue exceed the nominal value for a periodof more than 20 seconds, then again thealternator voltage is automatically reduced toa safe operating level. This overload functionhas a built-in delay to allow for the overloadwhen starting motors (normally 5-10seconds). The operating threshold of thisprotection device is adjustable by thepotentiometer marked “AMP”.
UVRAside from the above mentioned cha-racteristics, the UVR regulator also offers thefollowing:1 - possibility to have single-phase as well asthree-phase sensing2 - led indicators for self-diagnosis whichindicate the unit’s operational conditions: agreen led which when lit confirms thealternator’s normal functioning; a red ledindicates the underspeed protection is on; ayellow led indicates the overload protection ison.

ELECTRICALCONNECTIONS
PARALLEL OPERATIONShould the alternators be required tooperate in parallel, it is necessary to add aparalleling device to ensure equal droop ofgenerator output voltages. This ensures that if the machines areoperated separately, the voltage droop (4%approx.) is equal when switching from no-load to full load. The parallel device is fitted as standard on40-43 models, therefore when two or moreof these units must function in parallel, it issufficient to remove the bridge whichshortcircuits the secondary winding of theparallel device (tables 16-17 pag. 53).
On smaller models this device is mountedon request or it can be added by the clienthimself following the instructions of tables11-13-15-17.After the device has been mounted, checkwhether the connection has been properlymade; make sure that there is a voltagedrop of approximately 4% in the machineswhen they function individually switching atrated speed and cos ϕ 0.8 from no-load tofull load operation.
HOW TO MOUNT THE PARALLELDEVICEReferring to tables 11-13-15-17 mountparallel device as indicated.Through the insulating terminal, which isdelivered together with the parallel device, connect the power turns in series withphase. The numbers of turns to be woundon the transformer will be indicated in theinstruction accompanying the transformeritself. The secondary winding of the paralleltransformer must be connected in series tothe sensing of the electronic regulator asshown on tables 4 - 5 page 46.In order to activate the parallel deviceremove the bridge which shortcircuits thesecondary winding of the device itself asshown in the above mentioned tables.
NOTEWhen requesting a parallel device, it isnecessary to indicate the nominal data ofthe alternator on which the device will beapplied.
After all the electric connections have beenmade and only after all the protectionshave been put in place, can the system bestarted.
