Day 3: Istanbul Sightseeing - The Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace & Hagia Sofi a (B,L) Overnight: IstanbulAfter breakfast we start our day with a full day tour of Istanbul. Visit to the exotic and impressive Topkapi Palace, a walled city perched above

the Bosphorus, which served as the palace of the Ottoman Sultans Empire for 400 years between the 16th and 19th centuries. This complex

is a museum housing the spectacular artifacts such as Kaftans (exquisite robes), beautiful ornamented weapons and porcelain from China

and Japan. This afternoon our tour continues with a visit to the fascinating and impressive Sultan Ahmet Camii Mosque also known as The Blue

Mosque famous for its six minarets, thousands of beautiful blue Iznik tiles, unique architecture and marble latticework. Next visit the Byzantine

Hippodrome, the centre of Byzantine life for 1000 years, where chariot races and competitive athletic events took place. Following an included

lunch stop, we then visit one of the world’s true architectural gems, the beautiful Hagia Sophia. A Byzantine masterpiece fi rst constructed in 537

AD and reigned for almost 1,000 years as the largest Christian church in the world.

Day 4: Istanbul Sightseeing - Grand Bazaar & Spice Bazaar (B,D) Overnight: IstanbulAfter breakfast we start our half day tour with a visit to Grand Bazaar which is the biggest and the oldest shopping venue in the world. This color-

ful bazaar offers a kaleidoscope of Turkish traditions that can tempt all with its 4,000 shops exhibiting a collection of handmade carpets, jewelry,

antiques and leather. We then proceed to the Authentic Spice Bazaar, which was built as part of the Yeni Cami complex (New Mosque). This

a covered market fi lled with the scents and aroma of spices from all over the Near East. The market gives you an insight of how life was at one

time and how it contrasts modern Istanbul. The rest of your afternoon is at leisure to explore and discover city sights as you wish. An International

Business Exchange is available today to learn about local business practices.

Day 5: Istanbul – Bosphorus Cruise (Optional) (B,D) Overnight: IstanbulThe day is at leisure to explore Istanbul on your own. An optional Bosphorus Cruise is available through the heart of Istanbull. Your cruise will

have you passing through palaces of Ottoman, Dolmabahce and Beylerbeyi, ancient wooden houses, modern villas leading to the opening of

the Black Sea. You will see the Rumeli Fortress which is situated on the Tracean side of the Istanbul Bosphorus, it was built by Sultan Mehmet the

Conqueror in 1452. At the Bosphorus narrowest point the Anadolu and Rumeli Fortresses faces each other across it. On the surface, the Bospho-

rus fl ows like a river from the Black Sea to the Marmara. This current gets much stronger and becomes truly dangerous around the fortresses.

Below the surface current, there is another current fl owing in the opposite direction. These currents have always constituted a threat for the ships

crossing the strait. You will see modern villas that intermingle with the relatively few old wooden seaside mansions that have been preserved.

One of the most beautiful sights in the world is the Bosphorus Strait which is between two continents and joins two seas. The Black Sea is con-

nected to the Aegean through the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles.

Day 6: Istanbul – Izmir / Ancient Ephesus (Optional) (B) Overnight: IstanbulThe day is at your leisure. Join the full day optional tour to Izmir and Ephesus, sure to be a major highlight of your tour. This morning transfer from

your hotel to the airport for your short fl ight to Izmir. Upon arrival meet your local guide, visit the Selcuk Museum and enjoy a walking tour of the

world-famous ancient city of Ephesus. See the acclaimed Temple of Hadrian, Trajan’s Fountain, the Arcadian Way, the Antique Theater, Roman

Baths, and the two-tiered Library of Celcus dating back to the second century. Also visit the Shrine of Virgin Mary, where she lived her last years.

Drive back to Izmir and fl y to Istanbul where you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 7: Istanbul (B) Overnight: IstanbulEnjoy a full day at leisure to relax or sightsee on your own or consider an optional tour to learn how to

make traditional hand crafts this afternoon. Tonight an optional local folklore show with dinner is avail-

able. Your Turkish night out includes a drive through Istanbul’s illuminated streets to a supper club featur-

ing Turkish and European cuisine. The fl oor show includes live traditional Turkish music, regional folk dance

troupes, and—of course—a belly-dancer.

Day 8: Istanbul - Turkish Bath (Optional) (B,D) Overnight: IstanbulThe day is at leisure with a Turkish Bath optional excursion available. Enjoy the tradition of public bathing.

Lacking baths or running water at home, society embraced the hamam, which evolved into not only a

place to cleanse body and soul, but a social destination as well. The experience begins past the cool-

ing section, into the steam room, or hararet. For centuries architects worked to perfect the design of the

hararet: a domed, octagonal (or square) room, often with marvelous oculi to provide entry for sunlight,

and with intricate basins at various intervals and a heated marble platform, known as the naval stone,

in the center. After having all the impurities from your skin scrubbed you’ll feel invigorated and relaxed.

A Farewell Dinner is included this evening at a local restaurant.

Day 9: Istanbul (B)This morning after breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your fl ight back home fi lled with

treasured souvenirs and memories of Istanbul Turkey.
