Pedigree Technologies recommends using a professional installer for optimal results. Please let your Pedigree Technologies representative suggest a provider if
Required Information • Name of asset (ex: Reefer #20) • Detailed information about the asset (year, make, model, VIN, license plate, etc.) • State, area, organization, or group the asset belongs to (ex: North Region, MN tankers, etc.) • ESN of each device to be installed (ESN is found on the back of each unit with a barcode)
Required Equipment
Required Tools
Drill and assorted drill bits (to access device and/or secure cabling)Slotted and Philips Torx bits (to access device and/or secure cabling)Butane Torch or Heat Gun (if using heat shrink tubing at wire connections)Rubber Grommet (if drilling new hole for cabling)Silicone sealant (if running cabling through new or existing hole)
Temperature Sensor
Before You Begin
TURN TO THE LAST PAGE - WRITE DOWN THE REQUIRED INFORMATION!!!
• Find appropriate location for installation • Midway or evenly spaced between tranported items• On a wall not obstruction by objects or directly in front of air vents• Near other existing or factory installed sensors is a good location
• Route cables through existing hole to send cable to LMU• If new hole is required, it should be insulated with rubber grommet and silicone sealent• Secure cabling to trailer all along route to LMU• Additional hardware may be required
MOUNT TEMPERATURE SENSORThe temperature sensor should be mounted in the desired location with included hardware.
ROUTE TO TELEMATICS DEVICERoute the temperature sensor cable to the asset’s telematics device.
CONNECT SENSOR WIRESConnect the 1BB Data wire and 1BB Ground wire from the tempearture sensor to the corresponding wires based on the telematics device type. Use the self-sealing and soldering waterproof connectors included in the hardware kit.
DATANAB SENSORIf your sensor looks like this, (stainless probe, no boot) follow the Datanab sensor instructions for wire colors and connections.
CALAMP SENSORIf your sensor looks like this, (stainless probe with boot) follow the Calamp sensor instructions for wire colors and connections.

Telematics Device WiringTELEMATICS DEVICE WIRINGThe following section describes each style of telemtatics device you could be connecting a temperature sensor to. Follow the wiring schematic for the appropriate telematics device.
LMU 26xx/27xx DEVICES1BB data wire is WHITE/BLUE on pin 171BB ground wire is BLACK on pin 16
TTU 28xx DEVICES1BB data wire is WHITE/BLUE1BB ground wire is shared with the BLACK chassis ground of the TTU 2830
WHITE/BLUE = 1BB DATA
BLACK = 1BB GROUND
LMU 42xx SERIES DEVICES1BB data wire is GREEN/BLACK on pin 8 or the 22-pin I/O harness1BB ground wire is BLACK on pin 9 of the 22-pin I/O harness
FINAL STEPCall Pedigree Technologies installation support to confirm and finalize the installation.
701-499-0022You will be prompted for the following information during the set up process
• Device ESN
• Name of Asset (ex. Goosneck 51)
• Trailer make and model
• VIN #
• License plate #
• Mileage Hours
REMOVE POWERRemove power from the LMU/TTU by powering down the trailer/reefer and let the device go to sleep and all lights on the LMU are off.
REAPPLY POWERReapply power and/or start the reefer unit up, the sensor will be detected by LMU/TTU and start sending temperature values. Let the asset run for at least 15 minutes including all pumps, motors, etc. so the data can be verified.
