T hank you for picking up a copy of our Bear Creek Connections Magazine! As the weather gets warmer and the days longer, we have some very interesting articles
that will occupy those extra hours! We all need posi-tive stimulants to help us stay focused and moving towards our goals. Our magazine is designed to help you get moving in the right direction. In fact, that is what our Church is all about! We are a positive place that encourages you to discover the God shaped goals that may be hidden deep within your heart. Our church opens its doors to everyone in our community and it is a place where you can feel God’s love! One of our mottos is: GOD WANTS
TO BLESS YOU NOT BLAST YOU! When you visit us any Sunday at 9 am, 11 am, 5 pm or 7 pm you will sense that right away. Over the next three months, I am going to be teaching on a number of different topics. One will be called, ‘REPEAT THE PAST OR RESHAPE THE FUTURE.’ Dur-ing this teaching you will learn how to let go of the things that keep holding you back and how to move forward into the divine destiny that God has for you. Another teaching series I am excited about is called, ‘CHOOSING THE RIGHT ROAD.’ Life is made up of choices. What we are today is the direct result of choices we made in the past. I want to teach you how you can begin making the right decisions so you accomplish all that God has planned for you. The last teaching series in this quarter is going to be about a Bible character named JO-NAH. The life of JONAH will encourage you to realize that regardless of how far you have been running away from God, it’s never too late to come back. You will learn about our great God who delights in giving us a second chance. In this teaching series you will learn about the single greatest spiritual awakening that ever happened in all of history!! Go ahead and give church a try this Sunday. I guarantee you will receive a warm welcome. Our church services are characterized by contemporary music, a friendly atmosphere, teaching moments that apply the Bible to your personal life and the opportunity for someone to pray with you. We’ll have a warm cup of coffee waiting for you!!!!

Occupation: Financial Representative
City I live in: Lodi CA.
How long I’ve attended Bear Creek Church: 9 Mos.
What I enjoy most about Bear Creek Church: We
felt welcomed, the teaching and ministry.
Ministry I serve in: Kids in Christ & Project 58
When telling others about Bear Creek Church I use
these words: Self-improving for God, Love, Fellow-
ship and building a relationship with God.
A key event in my life and the impact it had on me:
In 2007 we sold our restaurant to have a better
quality of life and to start a new business. Our new
business was not what I expected and I found my-
self negative and lost. This became a blessing as I
turned to God to help me grow and become a bet-
ter man. Now as a Primerica Representative our
faith has been instrumental in coaching and teach-
ing other families to become financially independ-
ent.
If I could do anything, I would: 2 things. 1) Provide
funding for a 2,000 sq. ft. warehouse for Project 58
(very soon Deanne). 2) Travel to the Bahamas
(Atlantis Resort. Also, very soon Jay & Isabella).
Favorite Bible Verse: Galatians 6:9 and Matthew
5:16.
Favorite Bear Creek Church Event/Activity: THRIVE
and Trunk or Treat.
Last Movie I saw or Book I read: Everyday a Friday
by Joel Osteen. I read it to my kids as a bedtime sto-
ry & they love it. It has impacted our family greatly.
Courageous was an amazing movie that we
watched as a family.
Favorite vacation destination: Avila Beach, a beau-
tiful small town off the central coast with my family.
Hobbies: Spending time with my family, pizza cook-
ing, preparing meals together, basketball.
Favorite holiday: Christmas.
The people who mean the most to me: My wife
Nicole and our kids, Jay & Bella.
Favorite time of day: First thing in the morning
when I read with my wife and we pray together and
bedtime when I read to my kids.

Chaplains serve many personal and spiritual needs of individuals without judgment, with openness, and cares for them until the crisis moment is over.
Chaplains come at any hour, in all kinds of weather. Mostly, they listen. But they also comfort people who are shaking with fear. A prayer will be offered in guarded privacy to support the trembling of spirit that comes in difficult moments.

M y name is Jim Becker. I am honored to be one of the drummers who gets to
worship with Pastor Jebby and the wonderfully talented worship team at
Bear Creek Church. My wife, Whitney and I are blessed to be able to spon-
sor a six year old boy named Henry Luis Morales Aguilar in El Salvador
through Compassion International. Our sponsorship has been a heartwarming experience
made even more joyful by the letters and pictures we receive from Henry through the
Compassion staff. Since we began sponsoring Henry I've dreamed of getting to meet him
but never gave it much serious thought. After all, how would that ever happen? I casually
mentioned to Pastor Jebby how cool I thought it would be to meet this little guy. The next
day Jebby called me and asked how I would like to go to El Salvador and meet Henry! Our
church had a mission trip planned and they needed someone to smack the drums at a
couple of concerts! A dream come true! Once the initial excitement passed I had to figure
out how I could make this work ( job, finances, health etc.). I won't bore you with the de-
tails but suffice to say God removed every barrier. So away I went, along with 22 wonder-
ful people from Bear Creek. I couldn't believe it.

We arrived in El Salvador the last week in January. I was greeted with a big hug by one of
our interpreters who called me brother and told me how glad he was that I was there. After arriv-
ing at our destination, Sonsonate, we were taken to our sister church to be welcomed by the con-
gregation and our sponsored children. As the bus pulled up to the church we were greeted by
what seemed to be hundreds of people waiting for us. The children were standing in front wearing
lanyards with our names on them. We were told to find our child and get acquainted. It was one of
the most joyous things I have ever experienced. Except Henry wasn't there. I will admit I was
bummed, but I wasn't surprised. I didn't let Henry know I was coming in case something hap-
pened and I couldn't go. I enjoyed the church service and listening to the worship team who we
were going to be performing with. As we were getting ready to go back to the hotel, one of the in-
terpreters came up and started tugging on my am, saying "I want to introduce you to your spon-
sor child." I walked into the church and there he was along with his mother, her boyfriend, his
grandparents and aunts and uncles. They were all dressed
in their Sunday finest and urged Henry to give me the gift
he had brought me. I could not help picking him up and
hugging him after all this anticipation. This moment was
clearly one of the highlights of my entire life. Henry speaks
no English and I speak no Spanish so we had to communi-
cate through interpreters who informed me that Henry was
so nervous about meeting me that he was sick to his stom-
ach.
The next day we started our rehearsals for the con-
certs that would be taking place later in the week. Henry
was able to sit in a chair beside me almost every day at the
rehearsals. He became quite a cowbell player by the end of
the week. In fact, Pastor Jebby introduced him during the
second night's concert as
our guest percussionist,
at which time Henry
walked to the front of
the stage and took a big bow, much to the delight of his family
and I must admit I was beaming like a proud father. I was very
blessed to spend quite a bit of time with Henry, so much so that
one night when we were heading into the hotel Pastor Bill said
"Oh, it's Jim. I didn't recognize you without Henry attached to
you." I was sad to leave and deeply valued the experience, the
friends I made, and the joy of knowing what a great, great job
Compassion International does for these kids. If you are inter-
ested in sponsoring a child through Compassion visit their web-
site at www.compassion.com. If you are interested in sponsor-
ing a child from our partner church please look for a child that
has the following prefix number ES766.

Whether it’s for your family, clients or employees, come by, call us or
.A.R.T.Y. saved my son’s life,” she said with tears in her eyes. He was headed down the wrong path with the wrong friends, skipping school, grades declining and she could not reach him. When she tried to talk to him he would walk out on her. Then he attended a P.A.R.T.Y. Program with his health class. When he came home that day they
talked all night. He told her that P.A.R.T.Y. changed everything for him. After talking to our speakers and working through the programs stations he learned how quickly his life could change.
So, what would it mean to hear your 14 year old say, “I NEVER want to put my family through anything like that?”
This is what we hear from the students who attend P.A.R.T.Y.’s 4 hour program.
P.A.R.T.Y. is an interactive risk prevention program that is preferably held on site at a hospital. P.A.R.T.Y. invites 60-80 freshman and sophomore students from high school health classes to participate in a six station activity based program. Each station is unique and focuses on a different aspect of risk. Beginning with a graphic ER Phy-sician presentation the students then move out to the parking lot where they role play a crash and recovery sce-ne. After transport to hospital they prepare a patient for surgery in a simulated Emergency Room scenario. Next, students perform activities that simulate a brain injury and learn the life changing effects and skills necessary to perform even simple tasks; writing, buttoning a shirt and how difficult the transition can be on family and friends.
Then, they hear stories from our Traumatic Brain Injury Panel; four individuals who, no fault of their own, sustained a brain injury at the hands of family members and friends. In one case, Michael, is in a wheelchair because a friend fell asleep at the wheel of his car. He killed a passenger and Michael is cared for 24/7 by his mother who is never far from his side. Next, Police make clear the consequences of risky actions and our keynote speaker, Robbie, recounts his path to drugs and alcohol, and how he reclaimed his life. As students leave they ask if everyone is attending a program and tell us that ALL their friends need to because they are doing “stupid stuff.” Topics covered include; texting and driving, alcohol, drugs, bullying, suicide, prescrip-tion drugs, wearing proper gear, street racing, etc.
P.A.R.T.Y. changes lives and we invite you to help us so that we can continue to educate youth and create change so you never get the dreaded phone call in the middle of the night that changes your life forever.

T hree years ago, Compas-sion International in relation-ship with the Willow Creek Association of Churches,
launched a new ministry called Church 2 Church. The purpose of the ministry is to connect North American Churches with under resourced churches in countries that Compas-sion International operates. Three countries were chosen: India, Ethio-pia and El Salvador. An open invita-tion was extended to more than 80,000 attendees of the Leadership Summit. When Pastor Bill Cummins heard this invitation, he knew this was something that Bear Creek Com-munity Church should explore. Bear Creek Community Church applied to be one of the 12 churches to work in El Salvador. Over 1,000 churches applied for this new ministry with only 12 churches available in each country. By God’s grace and favor Bear Creek Church was given one of those spots. Since January 2010, Bear Creek Com-munity Church has been cultivating a deep and lasting relationship with Iglesia Josue in Sonsonate, El Salvador.
Working together as one church has had many benefits. As a partner church we sponsor over 100 chil-dren at Iglesia Josue. What a blessing as our church grows in it’s relationship with Iglesia Josue and
many take the opportunity to visit the children that members of Bear Creek Community Church sponsor through Compassion Internation-al. Not only have we, as a church
body, had the opportunity to make wonderful new friends and visit the children we sponsor, we
also get to see the fruits of our financial giving to Iglesia Josue.
Over the past 2 years we have funded the building of a bakery, shoe workshop and jewelry work-
shop, giving the children of the Compassion International pro-gram an opportunity to learn a
skill, so they can become self suf-ficient in their community. If you are interested in joining us on our
2013 El Salvador mission trip, please call the church at 209.951.9229.

A society is best transformed when it is lifted from the bottom: When one elderly man is given warm shelter for the evening;
When a struggling mother is offered support; or when a troubled youth receives key guidance at a critical moment.
Throughout the nation, The Salvation Army is helping transform society one life at a time,
leading as it serves. It's a story as old as the Army itself. Older, in fact:
Perhaps it started when a good man washed His friends' feet.

Kids in Christ — 1st through 6th grades The purpose of this ministry is to connect children to
Jesus; teaching them to honor God by obeying His
Word; to respect one another; to Invest time and
talent by serving; to spiritually grow, developing a
biblical world view, so that lives are transformed.
Our vision is that Kids In Christ will be a program in
which hundreds of children will participate because
they feel Christ’s love and acceptance here; they en-
joy an exciting environment in which to learn; they
live God’s Word; they want to invite their friends;
they feel safe; they bond together with their fami-
lies. If you have questions about our programs con-
