This term year two are looking at childhood in World War Two.
They have thought about what it would be like to live in Bexleyheath
during the bombing and how they would feel to be evacuated. To help
them understand what happened Miss Hopes father, who was an
evacuee, came in to talk to the children about his experiences. They
prepared questions to ask him beforehand and then heard all about
his wartime childhood spent in a small village near Leeds.

Brampton Primary is a restorative school where the initial response to conflict is to
find a solution where things are put right, the victims needs are met whilst also

Restorative Practices
On Tuesday a group of parents and governors came back to school to
learn more about restorative practices, the method Brampton is using
to resolve disputes and behaviour issues. We were lucky enough to
get Lynne Russell from Restorative Justice 4 Schools to explain the
strategy to the group. She has also kindlyoffered to run
further training
sessions later in the
year for parentsso
watch this space.

Knowing our feelings
Take it in turns to choose a feeling card. You should say
one thing that makes the other person feel that way. Checkyour answer. For example, if you are the parent or carer,
and you pick a happy card, you should say what you think
makes your child happy. The child should say whether this
is right. If not, they should say something else.
All members of the family can take it in turns to play this
game. They should say one thing that makes each member
of the family feel that way.
Sporting Success
Congratulations to the Boys 7 a side who are through to the semi finals of the MacCarthy
Cup. They played Burnt Oak last week, drawing 1-1, after extra time it was still 1-1 and they
finally won after a penalty shoot out 5-3. Thank you to Mr Capelli and Mr Kempster for
coaching the team (perhaps they should show the England team a trick or two!).
Well done to our athletes who came 3rd out of 31 primary schools in the final of the Year 3
and 4 Sports Hall Athletics. Many thanks to Miss Bennett for organising the team.
Family SEAL
The first round of Family SEAL came
to an end last week. We have worked
with 10 amazing families who have allbeen very supportive and great fun,
joining in wholeheartedly with all the
different activities. The children wanted
their parents to sign up to do it all
again! We have covered all the SEAL
themes that we work on in school and
the parents commented how useful they
found that, but more importantly they
valued the opportunity to have focused
time with their child. The second roundwill start next week.

Census 2011We have been asked by Bexley Council to encourage all parents to complete and return the Census.Generally, in Bexley the response rate to the Census survey is high (95% in 2001) but there are smallareas in the borough where response rates were much lower. We know that our population numbers
and the characteristics of the population has changed since 2001 so an accurate count is critical for allof us to inform decisions about service delivery and to ensure we receive the correct allocation of
funding.
